Played in foursomes competition - for first time

Interesting format - found it quite hard to keep your rhythm

We shot 84 gross for a nett 71

Some terrible holes including a triple, which was then followed by two birdies, courtesy of a 30 ft putt and 60 yard pitch in by myself

Was hitting my new irons MD Golf Superstrong Forged really well - they are a complete revelation compared to my 20 yr golf Ping EYE 2s

Played last night at approximately 6:10 p.m. at a course that's about 7 minutes from my house. $7 walking, $12 with a cart after 6:00 p.m. and you can play as many holes as you can fit in. And the course is actually nice. One of my favorites around here.

Shot a 43. Changed my swing up to a more "Stack-and-Tilt" swing so I was getting used to that. Overall didn't play too bad, but easily could have been better.

I shot a 34 on par 35 9 hole course....my lowest score ever there. My previous low score was a 39.

Shot 113 Friday after carding 137 only 2-1/2 months before - 24 stroke improvement from one round to the next! Lessons & range time payed off big time for my long game.

The good -- driving and fairway play was super improved. Didn't hit a push/slice (my typical miss) all day! Doctor, I'm cured. Made some really great contact, much higher % of the time. Hit the general direction I was aiming every time.

Areas noted for improvement (I know, everything, right?):
Still skittish at the 170-220 approach yardages - did a lot of laying up. Didn't pull an iron longer than a 5-iron, and avoided all fairway woods -- just didn't trust myself with those clubs yet.

Lost combined 8 strokes to two bunkers - ouch.

3 putted a couple of times, and 4 putted at least once - ouch.

With the driver & irons, had one fairway iron flub, and took two mulligans. My basic error was a slightly thin shot, which left me ok usually.

Flubbed some under-80 yard pitches - ouch.

All in all, though, I'm ecstatic with my performance, and so was my playing partner who knows my previous game all too well.

Today was my first time on an actual golf course and I shot a 44 on a par 31 9 hole. I made 2 pars and had some nice iron play. I have been on a driving range most weeks since last november. I love this game.

89 at Brookwoods Country Club.
71.1/132
8 GIRS
7/14 fairways
36 putts including 2 four putts

I was hitting the driver solidly early but started push/slicing on the back nine. Hit two shots OB which killed me. All in all, I had 8 pars, 5 doubles, a triple, and the rest bogeys. Very erratic day.

2 very lucky bounces

2 blown birdie 3 ft putts
1 blown 2.5 ft par putt!

3 pars
4 bogies
1 triple
1 penta-bogie

5/9 fairways
3 GIR

18 putts

Great day for me despite the blown birdie putts.
Pretty clear I need to work on putting close up with the birdies on the line.

What do they say? "Golf is 90% mental and 10 % mental"? Well those blown birdie and par putts prove it. That and the need to also spend some time practicing putting.

Shot a 110, 5th time out, missed a 1 footer for a par (yes choke) and had a few pretty bad mishits (couple nasty slices, wind didn't help though). Had a few really solid drives, would have had more had I focused on my swing more. I've made a lot of improvements overall though.

Marched with the Purdue Alumni Band in the 500 Festival Parade in Indianapolis on Saturday. Then, because I'm insane and didn't have anything to do for the rest of the day, I went out and played 18 at Eagle Creek. Shot 81 with an 8 on the 18th. I was thinking about breaking 80 rather than playing the hole.

86 (41/45) on a not-so-difficult course. Gave away a lot of strokes stupidly. Should've been a lot better, but could've been a lot worse, too. First time playing 18 with people I know since I moved to town, though. It was a lot of fun and the weather mostly cooperated so it was just soggy instead of raining.

75 at Lake View . I was being lazy on the front nine and not really keeping my arms straight at the setup, so that led to inconsistent ballstriking through 14.5 holes. At least I got to work on my short game - numerous up-and-downs, one chip-in, and only 26 putts.

    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
    • Day 128 12-18 Worked on rotation and getting to lead side. Still working on the flow feeling while doing that. Recorded swings.
    • IMO-the only thing entertaining was the relay race. Everything else was excruciatingly boring...or just  stupid, like the 14-club thing. Watching guys blade wedges into the water over and over is not at all interesting.
