What'd You Shoot Today?

Recommended Posts

Shot 74 yesterday with 2 birdies at Cinnebar Hills. Frustrating round because I struck the ball well and burned the edges on a number of putts. I had 8 birdie putts inside of 20' and only made two. Felt like I was rolling the rock pretty good so I can't feel bad except for what could have been.

Weapons of choice:
Irons/wedges: Titleist Tour Grind
Driver:Titleist 909D2
3 Wood: Tour Edge Exotic
Putter: Odyssey White Hot

I'm starting to hit the ball well again and I'm close to posting some good numbers.    The penalties are still killing me........1-2 shots a round causing instant double bogeys.

Stone Canyon:  Front 9............36.2CR 145slope

1 over par 37

Two bad tee shots let to instant doubles...............I hit the other 7GIR and coasted the rest of the way while adding a birdie.

Today: Stone Canyon: 73.2CR 141slope

37-39=76

1 penalty led to instant double....... I only made 3 bogeys verses 1 birdie on the rest of the course.  I had several good looks at birdie, but made nothing!!  My single birdie was a damn fine chip-in!!

My highlight of these two rounds was making birdie on the 565yd par5 7th hole.   You'd think a par 5 is a scoring hole but this one isn't!!  The green slopes are insane and it's difficult to hit and hold with even a wedge.  If you don't get both the line and direction perfect, the ball will repel well off the green leaving difficult par saves.    I knocked one to inches yesterday...easy tap in.....and chipped in for bird today.   A 5 is always a good score on this hole....

Another Hale Irwin course - 36 holes at the Jewel at Lake City (Blue tee 72/130 - just shy of 6700) - LOTS of seriously long par 4's for me 424/448/452/446/433/473 - really made it fun to be hitting more than just wedges into the greens - super nice course and in great condition - cold, odd periods of 30 mph gusting going on)

41/42 - with FIVE 3-putts and one penalty stroke - very happy with that one.  Hitting straight - only 50% GIR - but scrambled to par on 4 of the missed ones.  Great hazard shot on #11, #15 - fix the 3 putting and the penalty and I'd have been absolutely stoked.

43/45 - no 3-putts this time, but 3 penalties saved par with one sandy. Great hazard shot #15 again.  only 4 GIR (all on the front) and that's the big difference.  Got sloppy on the 2nd round.  Hit the wrong tee club on one par three even - lucky to bogie it.

Fairways hit got worse through the day - 8 - 3 - 5 - 4,  and the even more obvious when looking back at how clean my driving was.

no birdies at all - :~( couldn't seem to get a couple in a row together for the very reachable par 5's even

Hey! I just got done, 66. :) I am a talented young long hitter who is going through LPGA Q school next fall! I just made a Facebook sportsperson page, and would love to invite you all to follow my progress from the start! Facebook.com/ViiviGolf Instagram: VIVTHEGOLFER Twitter: viivinuorti Thank you for the support, and for being #TEAMVIIVI from the start! :)

Working my back from a back injury with little practice (since I only have so many swings I can take), I shot a 93 on Sky View in NW Jersey with one OB and two in hazards.  Tentative with the driver and my short game has gone south, but still great ot be out again!

97. Had a a few lost balls due to some pretty ugly hooks w/ the driver but the irons are really coming around. I'm using the Hole19 app here. I don't have a handicap so pay no attention to that

Shot a 73. Today we played the front nine twice so it played as a par 70. 2 birdies and 4 bogeys on the "front" and 2 birdies and 3 bogeys on the "back". Felt like I had a little more skill today than all of the bogeys would indicate but kept messing up simple things and missed some putts that I should have made. Seemed like it was feast or famine. Two of the birdies came on the only par 5 on the front each time.

72(first time, joined the club) 33,30. 6052(I know lol) 67.5, 120. I shouldn't play that box but my partners wanted to and I am still counting it because I still had to hit the shots and there are a couple of short par 4s that drop the yardage. Hit my second ever eagle from 115. First time I holed it from fairway and I didn't even see it. I was looking behind the green until somebody said "dude you are in the hole".

I played 20 holes today late in the afternoon, but only logged 1 nine hole score due to skipping around.

Front 9 at Stone Canyon: 36.2CR 145 Slope............42 (+6)

I hit 5 of 7 fairways, but my 2 misses were penalties that lead to instant double bogeys.  Penalties are killing me...... Aside from the penalty holes, I played solid golf.

Shot an 88 (39+49) at a 6300 yd par 72 (34+38). It's the second best score I've ever shot, but because of a horrible back nine it could have been a lot lower. Because of whatever reason I started hitting everything fat. 33 putts and 3 penalties.

My brother-in-law and I played 18 hole at Saxon GC while our wives went to a craft show.  I shot 40-36=76 from the senior tees.

Last Friday, same course, I shot 40-40=80 from the men's tees. It was so foggy that I did not see the pin on the green with my approach shot until the 12th green.

Friday I hit 4 greens in regulation and 28 putts, today I hit 14 greens in regulation and 36 putts.

I love this game.

Sunday,

Miami Shores GC, Troy, OH

51-45-96

It took me nine holes to remember how to swing a golf club and my short game stunk all day. My putting, of all things, was the brightest spot. Holed a couple of long ones and got several others close to prevent this round from being worse.

This was a bit frustrating. A few weeks have passed since the last time I had what I consider a decent round. Friday, I made it to the range and felt pretty good about the session. Must have lost that somewhere in between.

    • So, it appears to me that everyone is bringing out some version of the zero-torque, or square to square, or torque balanced, putter.  What ever name you want to give it seems like everyone has one of these types of things in their line up now.  It reminds me of about 10 years ago, when everyone had to have a counter-balanced putter in their line-up.  Callaway Media | Videos, Podcasts, & Episodes | Golf Content The Official source for Callaway golf clubs, golf balls and gear.
