88(Par 20). Played really well being that it was the first round of the year. My putting was absolutely horrible. By far the worst I've ever putted.

9 Holes--37 @ The Fairways at Arrowhead-Front(+2)

18 Holes--80 @ Carroll Meadows Golf Course(+9)

i shot an 81 today playing a 9 hole course twice. just need to start hitting more greens to break 80. i also shot an 87 at a much harder course earlier this weekend where i will play in a league this year. the greens there are much faster and i will need to get used to them.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Shot a 96 today ( 50 and 46 )....

Just couldn't hit fairways to save my life, managed to hit a miserable 4 fairways.

Had a disastrous front 9, and steadied myself at the back....my buddies call me a 'Back Niner'....saying I only start playing at the back 9, and I really think they're right because it seems I am establishing this 'pattern' for some months now, where I do so-so on the front and then turn my game around at the back 9 !

Shot a 42(+7) at the local 9-hole yesterday. Short game was once again a mess. Hopefully that'll come back as the season progresses. Had a shot at eagle on the Par 5 5th but missed it by about a foot. First time I've ever had a legitimate opportunity at an eagle.

I played on Christmas day and didn't record a score, as I was just getting back in to golf after a couple years away from the game. I finished with the same ball I started, so that's a plus. I think I had 4 pars and rest junk.

46/46 for a 92 net 69. Won my flight. Also won a skin. Took my wife out to celebrate and our tapas place turned in to a "small plate latino" joint which wasn't all that good. Still couldn't take the smile off my face!

52 front 9
42 back 9 for a 94

Lots of pars from the 8th hole on with a couple of bad holes. I putted well today (zero 3 putts). I guess there is some good in warming up before playing instead of warming up on the course.

44 today (+7). 2 fairways and 2 GIR. 17 putts with one 3 putt....grrrrrr. I can say it was windy...11mph but steady out of the west so not an excuse.

The fairways I'm missing are by only a few yards. I'm quite pleased with the new driver, I just need some more practice. This is the first time I've had a driver in the bag since I began playing again last year. The two drives I put in the fairway were measured at 247 (uphill slightly) and 245. Fairways are starting to firm up so they aren't plugging, but still not rolling AT ALL!!

Now to the irons. Absolutely pitiful. I didn't hit anything more than a 6i all day and still can't hit a green to save my life. Chipping and two putting for bogey aint gonna cut it!!

Still quite a bit better than I was hitting the ball last year. Pre-shot routine with visualization of a shot shape has helped tremendously.

Going to chronicle my round shot by shot as a diary for me to look back on and see how I played

In - 42 Out- 41 - Total - 83
8/14 FIR - 57.1%
6/18 GIR - 33%
1.8 Putts with no 3 putts

Hole #1- 452 yard par 5
Sliced my drive into the adjacent fairway. Played a good 2nd shot over trees back into leaving myself 120 yards in. My pitching wedge came up 5 yards short and right. Chipped to 7 feet and knocked down the putt to save par.

Hole #2- 357 yard Par 4
Hit a good straight drive, but stayed left the whole way and left myself 132 yards in from the left rough. My approach with my 9 iron was pushed right and left me 15 yards right of the green. Pitched over the green side bunker and left myself a 10 foot par putt save. Left that putt out to the left 6 inches and tapped in for bogey.

Hole #3- 401 yard par 4
Hit a nice straight drive that left me sitting 155 yards from the hole. Pulled my 7 iron slighty but found the leftside of the green about 25 feet from the hole. My birdie putt came up 2 feet short and I tapped in for par

Hole #4- 343 yard par 4

This hole is short but has outbounds all along both sides of the fairway, it is important to find the fairway on this hole. Hit my 3 hybrid off the tee and left myself 140 yards on my approach. Chunked my 8 iron and left myself another 75 yards to the flag. My lob wedge came up 8 yards short. Chipped to 10 feet and 2 putted for double bogey.

Hole #5- 296 uphill par 4
This hole plays uphill the whole way. Hit a good drive and left myself 100 yards to the pin. Chunked my gap wedge and left myself 20 yards to the flag. Tried to choke down on the lob wedge and hit a little stinger into the wind to flag high. Left the pitch short and faced a 20 foot uphill putt for par. Left that putt 6 feet short, but knocked the bogey putt into the center of the hole.

Hole #6- 126 yard par 3
Hit a 9 iron that lands pin high 15 feet left of the pin. Birdie putt misses 3 inches high of the hole. Tap in for par

Hole #7 - 520 yard par 5.
Hit a solid drive that fades 15 feet into the left rough. 2nd shot is a hybrid 3 that leaves me sitting at 100 yards for my approach into the green. My gap wedge is pulled slightly and lands on the left fringe. Chip to 3 feet. Make the 3 foot putt for par.

Hole #8- 198 yard par 3
Hit hybrid 3 off the tee, mis the sweet spot a little and land 10 yards short of the green. Pitch over the bunker in front of the green leaves me 12 feet left of the flag and I 2 putt from there for bogey.

Hole #9- 376 yard par 4
This hole plays slightly uphill and curves slightly right. Frustrated with my driver, I decide to unleash on this tee before making the turn. Hit my most pure drive of the day and drive the ball right through the curve in the fairway and leaves myself with 120 yards left from the left rough. Chunk my pitching wedge and leave myself in the right rough with 60 yards to go. Hit a lob wedge that fly the greens and lands on the back fringe. Chip to a foot and tap in for bogey

Review of front 9 - Driver was sporadic and I could not find my iron play. Putting and chipping kept me from falling apart before the turn.

Hole #10 371 yard par 4
Hit a solid drive that finds the left side of the fairway leaving me 150 yards into the green. This hole doglegs right 20 yards short of the green. You are left with a choice to layup or try to hit your approach over about 20 yards of trees. I put my trust in my iron play(usually my strong suit) and hit my 7 iron up over the trees. The ball lands pin high about 8 feet left and rolls out a little to leave me a 14 foot birdie putt. Leave the putt on the high side and tap in for par.

Hole #11 128 yard par 3
This hole plays downhill. I hit pitching wedge to a flag that is on the front edge of the green. Lands pin high 7 feet right of the flag. Birdie putt lips out on the right hand side and I tap in for my 2nd straight par.

Hole #12- 258 yard par 4
This hole goes uphill about 60 feet. Hit 3 wood off the tee leaving my 60 yards out. Taking in elevation change I hit a sand wedge that lands on the front of the green leaving me a 12 foot birdie putt. Push the birdie putt and never give it a chance. Knock on the 5 footer for par.

Hole #13 - 251 yard par 4
This hole plays downhill, so I hit 8 iron off the tee. 8 flys dead center of fairway and leaves me 100 yards into the flag. Gap wedge flys past the flag 10 feet and stops promptly leaving me a 12 foot birdie putt. That putts comes up short and i tap in for par. That is my 4th par in a row.

Hole #14- 403 yard par 4
Straight as an arrow and I am feeling confident. I unload my driver right down the middle and the gps measures this shot at 273 yards. With a 130 into the flag I hit a 9ron that I pull left and leave myself in the rough 8 yards left of the green. Hit a mediocre chip leaving me a 15 foot look at par. That putt never has a chance and stops 3 feet right of the hole. Tap that in for bogey

Hole #15 537 yard par 5

The drive hooks left and I find myself 310 yards out in the left rough. 3 hybrid from the rough is struck solid and leaves me in the center of the fairway with a 120 into the green. Pull the approach with the pitching wedge and find myself 10 yards left of the green. Hit a solid pitch that leaves me 7 feet from the flag. Hit a dreadful putt that leaves me with a 4 footer downhill for bogey. Put that putter in the center of the cup

Hole #16- 534 yard par 5
Hit a solid drive that finds the right side of the fairway. I am 300 yards out and hit a 3 hybrid that I push into the left rough. Sitting 90 yards out in the left rough, I choke down on a gap wedge that lands on the back of the green and rolls onto the back fringe. Sitting 35 feet from the flag I decided to putt from the fringe but mishit the putt and leave myself a 15 foot putt to save par. That putts stops 1 foot right of the hole and I tap in for bogey

Hole #17 - 189 yard par 3
This hole is slightly uphill and I hit a hybrid 3 from the tee. Struck it solid and it lands just off the left fringe in the rough. Blade my chip and find myself on the right edge of the green with 22 foot putt for par. That putt comes up 4 feet short and I knock it in for bogey

Hole #18- 326 yard par 4

Hit 3 wood off tee and leave myself 115 yards into the green from the left rough. Dont get quite enough on my pitching wedge and leave myself 5 yards short of the green. Chip onto the green and am looking at 9 foot putt for par. That putt is headed dead center of the cup and breaks just under the hole on the left side at the last second. I tap in for bogey and finish the back 9 at +5

Back 9 - Started striking my irons much more solidly but just couldn't dial in the accuracy. I believe fatigue began to set in over the last few holes.

Whole Round - Very solid 83 for the 2nd round of the year.

First round since xmas break. Played the Links at Northfork. Great test for anytime of year, let alone the first of the year. Windy and a little on the chilly side.

11 of Fairways
3 GIR's
1 Sandy
4 Pars, 9 bogeys, one 7 and two 8's (from the damned fairway of course...)

Shot 95....

Hit some good drives. A couple nice long fairway woods. Terrible iron play. Good to average short game. Tough putting too....slow, sandy greens.

95 after hitting 11 of 14 fairways though......
