Sorry I didn't write more. The interesting bit about this device is it's 240 fps at 480p iirc, very cheap and afaik, you can start and stop recording w/your smartphone. It communicates via wifi though, not BT. Just one of those things you buy on a lark out of curiosity to play with. The documentation is terrible, written by someone whose first language isn't English. Just seems like maybe there's a good use case for this after figuring out what it's capable of.

We actually encourage members to post stuff like this. You find something interesting, an article, a product, etc., post it. What we don't like is someone joining the site to explicitly post a link to a product they represent.

I've actually been eyeing this thing, was thinking of grabbing 2 and setting them up for simultaneous FO and DTL swing recording.

That's one of the use cases I was thinking of. Wondering if one smartphone can control two though.

That was one thing I worried about, but I also have a tablet that I could use to connect to one also.

I'm guessing if it's wifi, should be doable w/one smartphone.

Also, since it's cheap, it can be your do crazy stuff beat the crap out of it camera, like camera in target line videos.

I actually like the idea of using 2 devices because it would make it easier to start them recording at the same time to make for easier editing. I agree about the not being so worried about breaking them because of the price, would be cool for course vlogs to see some ball right at you shots. Like on a wide open course, driving up to the green and setting the camera up to watch the approach coming in and landing type stuff.

This is the device that caused the GoPro stock to tank over the summer.  My understanding is it uses a same camera from Ambarella that the GoPro does but isn't built as well as the GoPro.

It does have a BT remote option. But two mobile devices is better because you can view both videos w/o futzing around w/the BT remote.

There's no one phone controls two cameras option based on specs and apps available, two phones connect to two different SSIDs. Might be problems w/radio signal interference as they're in close proximity.

Here's the recently released iOS app. The new SSID feature (number 6) is just support for Chinese characters.

I don't understand the need or desire to capture FO and DL at the same time.

Your swing doesn't change much from swing to swing. Just record them individually, and you don't have to worry about synchronization, etc.

My Sony action cams synchronize through Wifi.

This camera appears to be more "action cam-like" in operation than go pro even though it looks more like a go-pro?

I get what you're saying, but sometimes one might do something off while videoing DTL and wonder what it looks like FO or vice versa. Also, for me anyways, I think sometimes, subconsciously, unwittingly, I swing differently depending on the angle - yes, swings are consistent one to the next, but having that extra camera takes some of the uncertainty out of it. Bottom line is I just like to see when I'm trying to change the picture, I want to see how it looks from both angles, something closer to Gears golf. I have the means to do this now, albeit, clumsily, I have multiple cameras and tripods, but because I haven't, maybe I'm subconsciously endorsing your view?

    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
