It was this drive in September. Ground was dry and I remember a slight tailwind. It occurred to me afterwards when I was reviewing my round that this drive on most other holes would have been lost or in serious trouble considering how off line it is from center, so I guess you could say I got away with one.

Updated. Played with @SavvySwede yesterday and apparently beat my longest drive of the year...with the mini driver. The tees were elevated and the hole was downhill, but still this is a bit ridiculous. I didn't know how far it was until I got home and plugged in the Game Golf; it didn't feel like 300 at the time.

I hit a wind aided 326 last week. Heavy wind at my back was really surprised. So was group I drove into. I was sorry that it happened they were just as shocked as me.

I am not a longhitter, pleased with every drive that hits the fairway and goes 220y. But I had my moments of joy this year. On a par4 at my homecourse I hit it 300y. The funny thing is, there were no helping circumstances. Only 70y to the green, so I hit it in the greenside bunker :~( and made bogey.

best one was in Italy, 310y and winning the longest drive prize that day. Next day I even hit 10y further, but longest drive was on an other hole that day.

I'm painfully short, but on one scorching August day the fairways at Kittyhawk were harder than Wagoner Ford Rd. on the other side of the fence. I hit a perfectly adequate drive on No. 7 of the Eagle course and watched the ball hop, skip and roll straight down the middle. For the first time before or since, I hit a PW to that green and birdied it. So I'd estimate about 290 total, but probably only 230 carry.

Funny, my longest drive of the year was yesterday in 45°F weather with a cold ball.    Didn't overswing ... just caught it pure - went high, long & straight - could tell hit it perfect on the sweet spot of the club face.    It was wet with no rollout ... 275 ... that's all I have in the tank.

    • They sure do. 158 with an 8 iron is on the high end for me
    • Went back to controlling my knees. That part was getting a bit sloppy when I worked on my backswing. Right hip didn't slide or gain internal rotation. I would just rotate back and around and the left knee would be in a bad spot. Really focusing now on keeping my left knee very stable and straighter in the backswing. I can't go back to the old pattern of overturning the hips. I was returning to my old pattern to time my downswing. Turn forever.  Left knee controls both knees and hips, acting as an anchor. Feel like it straightens a bit.   Hinge sooner and faster. Not in a way that sends the hands out and flips the club over. I still noticed when the hands get to A2.5, the hands would want to flip over and flatten the club out a ton.  Still trying to figure out how to roll the forearms a bit open and not just roll the club inside a ton.  Figure out the timing to get the hands down. Still getting a bit of right elbow collapsing in the downswing because the arms are too high when I turn. Everything is happening sooner now. If the hips are controlled, the backswing is shortened. Because it is shortened I don't know when to get the hands down and I just turn because the downswing is a go.  Very slow (50%) swings are decent.
    • Distances look fine, no?
    • Day 207-12 Wider backswing and arm reconnecting in downswing. Did a much better job with proper wrist movements through downswing today.
