I think they're basically the RSI, are they not? They just removed the little lower right part of the "R"? :-)

I haven't hit them yet but like @iacas said, they don't seem that much different than the previous model. I know@boogielicious got to hit them at the media day, maybe he can share his thoughts.

Has anyone heard anything about these irons yet, good or bad ?

The problem with the PSi irons is Taylormade can't really find a good way to sell them besides "they're new!" I follow club tech religiously (or at least the marketing thereof) and I can't tell you anything about these irons that wasn't the case for the RSi series. I'd personally rather have the SLDR irons that have been on sale in lightning deals on Amazon lately for $299 3i-PW. At least they don't have holes in the face.

I only warmed up with them. I spent most of the time with the driver. They felt good but I didn't have anything to compare with. I remember Bowditch was getting more distance with them.

I'm currently playing the SLDR irons and I'm pretty happy with them for the most part. I was just curious for some feedback and as always. I would wait at least a year before I would consider buying anything that is new to the market. Thanks for the input.

The lofts are slightly weaker than the RSi 2 and significantly weaker than the RSi 1.  The PSi also use slightly shorter length shafts so I'm guessing TM must have done something to the face in order to maintain the distance many of their customers seek from their clubs.

I've demo'd the 7 iron in these, the 716 AP1 and AP2. I currently use Z545 with Tour V regular flex stepped to play firm. For me the PSI was a hands down winner. I gained distance and dispersion tightened up with a nice ball flight. Loss of distance on mis hits were minimised. AP1's felt hard off the face, flew to high and were shorter than my 545's. AP2's felt good, flew high and about the same as the 545's, but loss of distance on mishits was worse. The AP's were shafted with NS950 shafts, which I have used before and for me do produce a high flight, the PSI's had C-Taper 105 regular shafts.

I bit the bullet and brought a set online in the US saving myself $400 over the price here in Thailand.

I concur that the new TM PSi irons are very similar to the RSi2 model, aside from some minor changes to the badging and graphics, and slightly weaker lofts on the PSi model.  I have found very little change in performance from the SLDR model to the RSi2 (both of which I have owned) or the PSi (which I don't own, but have demo'd).  However, I also find only slight differences between the new Titleist 716 AP1 and AP2 and the earlier 714 AP1 and AP2, other than a bright chrome finish and slightly larger tungsten weights on the 716 AP2.

Performance-wise, the PSi irons ar very good, if you are a reasonably decent ball-striker.  For me, the small -- make that minuscule -- performance improvement with the PSi irons does not warrant running out  to buy them.

I like the TM PSI, however I think that are a bit difficult for a 15 handicapper like me. My other option is the new Callaway Apex and the Ping i. Should test them to decide which one suits me.

The PSis shouldn't be more intimidating than the Apex irons. They're pretty forgiving. On paper, the Apex should be the harder iron to hit. Obviously little nuances about any iron might appeal to you or put you off, but all 3 should be pretty approachable, especially for a 15.

I bought a set of Callaway Apex irons earlier this year and really like them. You have to hit them to make a decision imo. I was originally leaning toward TM RSI irons but my results with the Apex were much better. I also tried the Mizumo JPX? forged and results were similar for me as the Apex but my shot patterns were a little better with the Apex so that was the deciding factor. I also tried Titleist AP 1 and 2 as well as other clubs at the time.

Yeah the PSi and Apex irons are similar in design and forgiveness. Maybe you're thinking of the PSi Tour irons?

Thank you, I was thinking the PSi (not the tour vesion) where a bit complicated, but it looks like I was wrong. Anyway, thanks for the info, will try the Apex, PSi, and Ping i, and decide which one I prefer...

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
