Well, I guess I can I understand that POV, when you have pretty much everything done for you, taking out a toolbox and using a screwdriver seems pretty hands on. But this is pretty ridiculous. It is January, slow news time.

I'm not sure the intent of this thread is a criticism of Speith, rather, I think/hope it's a critique of golf media.  GC has been the same; all Speith, all the time.  

They're trying to find the next Tiger in order to keep their readership/viewership up.  Don't blame Speith; he's being used just as Tiger was.  

Seems to me he's growing up though.  GC stopped down their programming last night for Speith's pre-tourney presser.  He appeared more mature, wiser, not as much of the aw shucks kind of persona.

This ain't nothing. Hollywood tabloids like People, US, etc. have this section of photographs called - Superstars/Movies stars whatever - They are just like us!  There are accompanying photographs showing somebody like Channing Tatum HIMSELF filling his gas tank at a station or Jessica Simpson HERSELF walking out of a coffee shop with her kids having bought her OWN coffee.. etc. I guess borrowing a page from the book, eh?

But the day I see a photograph or report of JS wiping his own butt, I will fall of my chair, clutch my heart and shake till I...............well, stop shaking.

Media always defends by saying they only serve what we consume but then they never admit it that they manipulate what we want (general 'we') by serving up this type of stuff. It is the Steve Jobs model. They have say in it and can do better, but I will say in this particular case it is mostly silly and harmless so I will give them a pass on a slow news day. I was watching JS' press conf last night and he seems wise and knows this phenomenon, doing his part to serve up to media butt sniffing staying fully engaged in the most trivial of questions right up to revealing his underwear brand. God help us if he wins two more majors this year and yes, good on him for his maturity.

In defense of the golf media, at least this is not like photo opps of a politician shooting a gun to show he supports gun rights, or President Gerald Ford showing he is a normal guy and eating a tamale .... with the corn husk still attached... now that was amusing. But many of you were not born back, way back then.
