The Northwest wind is probably the toughest direction the wind can come from, if it has any kind of strength... I think we'll see some marginally better scoring today...

Today will do one of two things it's "moving day", bunch everybody up, and keep between 20 and 25 players in it, Or Spieth and McIlroy create a bit of separation. The only thing that would've made this better, is if Day could've gotten to the house at 2 or 3 under Thursday...

I think Day goes out relaxed and shoots say 68 or 69, you're going to one hell of a Masters Sunday.

Whoever came up with that formula, oy. Rankings instead of percentage difference or standard deviations from the field average? Driving distance only instead of SG driving because trees don't matter? Not including any iron category, because for some reason driving and short game are the only things that matter at Augusta?

It is a little bit hilarious. Approaches just don't happen at Augusta, apparently.

Currently focusing on: Key 4 - shorter backswing.

What's in the bag: Callaway X2 Hot Driver, Titleist 915F 3 wood, X2 Hot 3 Hybrid, 3, 5-AW Apex Pro irons, 54*, 58* Cleveland RTX, Odyssey Versa 1 Putter

It's such a magical place the ball just floats from the post-drive lie to a spot on or near the green.

I suspect that article was filler..."We need 22 new pages for ads for The Masters traffic spike, stat!"

Disagree about scoring. I think today's going to be the hardest by far. It's the "cold wind", which is more of a stronger and gusty wind that's going to hit these players, and the very low humidity is the worst part of the whole forecast. Low humidity means these greens are going to be so dry and so fast. Nothing's going to stick. I hope to God they watered these greens last night or it's going to get ugly. Even though the winds let up by the time the leaders get on the back 9, the greens are going to be like putting on ice.

By the way, the 4th hole is going to be brutal today. 240 yards with a back pin location straight into the teeth of the wind. Good luck with that.

In a way the short game matters at Augusta, but your kidding, right?

Augusta is a 2nd shot golf course, always has been, even with the added length, Augusta is a second shot golf course, you figure GIR would be in the formula somewhere.

I'll buy that, but the forecast I read said the winds were going to subside a bit late afternoon. The East wind will yield some lower scores tomorrow.

Hoping for a good round from Rory and would love to see a Spieth meltdown. Right now no one in golf irritates me as much as Spieth, dont really know why, just seems kind of fake

Did we just become best friends?!

But if you are coming up with a multi-category 'Total', be sure to mis-weight GIR by rank only and not magnitude of relative skill vs. the field like the others.

Yeah, but the greens are also gonna be so dry when the winds start dying down, and they're only gonna subside a little. It's still supposed to be pretty breezy Gonna be very tough out there, especially between 12-5pm. Leaders may have advantage on the par-5s on the back.

Apparently whoever came up with the formula hasn't read LSW.

They are not really comparable. I don't like Tom W for various reasons, but putting them in the same boat is out of whack. That's pretty rich coming from a TW fanboy.

They're not in the same boat because they've done the same thing. Bubba is more of a douche and Tom is disingenuous.

I am an unabashed TW fanboy. I'll even use your disparaging word. But that doesn't mean I'll make excuses for his transgressions. Anyways.

...And you're an un-sanctimonious one?

Yeah, hence the "IMHO" - sort of tongue in cheek, or "see what I did there"...

While I respect both their golfing skills, pre-'humility' Tiger and Bubba could have a douche-off (just differing styles) IMHO.

Don't know where you get Tom as disingenuous.

And it's funny, Tigs totally can be a douche, you're right. But Bubba is a whiny douche. Somehow it's different to me. Whatever. LOL…

Tom was/is deceitful, lying, cheating, hypocritical, etc...

Anyhoo...can't wait for play to start today!!!

Yet you don't mind Tiger's marriage stuff? I don't follow...

I said just a few posts up that I'll never make excuses for that. The difference is Tiger doesn't act like he's without fault, the way that Tom likes to behave. Tiger did incredibly reprehensible things. No bueno. But I still love him as a golfer.

    • How do you like the maxfli's? (Which ones?)
    • I am using up my Taylor made distance balls. Went thru half of my tp5’s. Prolly finish the season with axt titliest. But not buying any. I still have a few hundred maxfli balls in my safe.
    • Well you were certainly right about this. Didn't notice much difference from when I switched to the e12's from the Kirkland balls. But today when I first tried the Vice Pro's, wow noticeable difference. Longest drives I've had so far and I think I need to club down on iron shots with it. Kept overshooting the green with them. Great feel and sound too.
    • My boss, out of the blue yesterday, asked me if it ever gets too hot for me to play. I've played in 112* in Phoenix before. Fairly frequently play in mid-90s in NY. Those days are worse than the 112 in Phoenix. I said no. But I'll play in anything. I've played in sleet, snow, hail (one time it hailed on us while blowing a steady 45mph gusting to 55mph - as verified by an anemometer in the clubhouse), torrential rain, high winds, cold, hot, you name it.  Lightning will get me off the golf course though. I'm not an idiot (well, not that much of one anyway).
    • I'm an all weather golfer. Luckily in my part of the Bay Area, it never get's much hotter than mid-70s, and the only humidity fog, so I don't have to deal with hot and humid weather. Most of the year I only have time to play once a week, and it's my weekly psychological break from the daily experience of work/parenthood so I hate to miss it. The only thing that really gives me pause is high winds, because my home course has tons of trees, and quite a few are diseased/dying. Often times when I am out playing and the weather is really shitty I will momentarily question my decision to play, but I rarely regret it.
