So I went to play today and noticed my driver was loose.  I have a Nike Covert 2.0 with an adjustable head.

Basically the hosel came loose and the shaft has worn out marks all over it.  Like it has been twisting hard.  The club won't sit down all the way and when I swing the head is wobbly.

I will post pictures soon but was curious if anybody has seen this before and if it is salvageable.   Or if I should just buy a new driver.

Thanks!

You can't just tighten it back up with the wrench?

No it's the part of the hosel.  It's not the adjustable part.  I tried tightened it twice.

Did you disassemble and inspect the components for wear or other ill-regularities?

The hosel is a fixed component of the head. I guess it's a possibility the adaptor was not seated properly and would cause a distortion of wear.

If the adaptor looks bad it can be replaced on the shaft. Adaptors are inexpensive, $7 - $15 bucks on Ebay.

I would not swing it again. The head may snap off. If you like the head, you could get a new shaft. But new drivers are nice too!

If you want a new driver, buy one. Send that one in to Nike and see if they will repair it, then sell it on eBay...

I agree here... You don't want to swing it... Unless you get it repaired properly or replaced. You definitely don't want to see the clubhead go flying down the fairway and hit someone. I didn't notice if you mentioned how old the club is. My last driver was a Nike and worked just fine for me for many years. It could be a manufacture flaw that Nike might fix for you if it's not too old. Just thinking.

Sounds like the epoxy failed. I've had plenty of spinners before. New epoxy should fix it.

Its that gap to the left of the "right" text that is causing the problems.  And you can see the worn marks on the shaft.

That is easily re-epoxy-able.

Is that something I can do or should I take it to a golf repair shop?

I have to disagree. The only thing 'cheap' about Nike clubs from the Covert on is the actual plastic adapter to connect the head to the shaft. The shafts aren't the greatest but really what stock shaft is?

If you have the materials it's easy but it is also really cheap to have someone put it back in. I would just take it in if you don't want to mess with it. Shaft is clean and the head is clean, all you need is epoxy and line the grip up although it is still not a big deal if it is lined up either.

It was a joke about Phil Mickelson taking a shot at Nike back in the day. That being said, Nike clubs always seemed a little bit off to me.

    • Day 39: did top golf for an hour with the family. It was fun but also not really like real golf at all. Also did some mirror work - working on the backswing stuff mostly.
    • Day 4, 1/2/26.  Played 18 today;  didn't get a chance to warm up (had I known the range was closed, I'd have hit balls at home first).  Played okay, 92 with three balls in the water.  It was raining for more than half the round and I didn't quite appreciate before today just how much I benefit from roll on both drives and approach shots.  I did not adapt well to this change until about hole 15, which is something I have to figure out.
    • Day 143 1-2 Arch wrist in downswing. Having a SLIGHT cup in the lead wrist at the top now. Only paused swings with some rehearsals before swinging at ball.  Used foam ball.
    • Day 459 - 2026-01-02 Had two guys on GEARS Hybrid, so I hopped on afterward (I'm going to do this a lot more often now). So… I've signed myself up for another month of backswing work in two ways: A little more extension of the trail elbow (got into the upper 90s) Less pelvis turn (low 50s).
