Took a long walk/jog tonight with the dog, so I did t have much left in the tank, but I managed to to eek out 5 minutes of hitting balls into the net (set it up in my garage). They are half shots focusing on the left shoulder going down. It's starting to feel more "normal".

Played 27 holes. Cut the morning round short because it was slow going (you know, a four-hour round… which felt dreadfully slow to me in a twosome).

The rounds:

18, 71, Lawrence Park: http://www.gamegolf.com/player/iacas/round/1161074

Found a few minutes just as it was getting dark to hit some plastic balls in the front yard. I've been having a hard time focusing on my hip sway and turn/pivot, and I'm pretty sure it's only because I don't hit into a net and can see the dang ball on "practice" shots. Luckily, this evening, I ran out of light and couldn't see the ball until it landed and it seemed to help me ignore the reliable push that my "slow-mo" swing produces and focus only on my turn.

9/6.  Outdoor, at the range, with balls (but some swings without, obviously).

Having the club butt point inside the ball at A3 -- practice with a 9-iron to there, stop, check position, repeat, two in a row means I get to hit a pitch shot.  Did this for five minutes easily.

Also worked on having hands ahead at A6 with my remaining swings, primarily with a 6-iron.  Game Golf tag stayed in the newly installed Pure grip, so that's nice too.

9/7 - more putting on the carpet.  Did some torso rotation stretching before my workout this morning.  I am going to try to do this at least 3 times a week for 5 minutes to help my shoulder turn

Did mirror work yesterday and today. I will go to the range later as well. We made a minor adjustment for A4 and I want to film it. It was too windy on Monday due to Hermine.

Finished my downstairs basement putting green and putted on it for awhile. More flattening needed. :-)

9/7/16:

I am obviously out for September. Hell, I didn't even practice yesterday. Took a break. I think I am working too hard on my game anyway so I'm taking a short break.

I putted this morning. Like I said, I need a break from practicing. I might play Sunday, but we will see how I feel.

9/07 (Part II & III) - went to range for 30 mins and worked on 5SK #4&5. It was hit or miss, but much better than 3-4 days ago. Just finished chipping x 30 mins on a thinner carpeted long hallway at work (things were slow) focussing on low point control and making square solid contact.

Took a long motorcycle ride after work then spent about 15 minutes in the garage hitting into the net. Still focusing on swinging by lowering the left shoulder. Started with baby swings and slowly started going further. Once ball contact started to be not so good, I backed off to baby swings and worked up again.

So I get extra credit for the extra time?

9/7/2016:

Spent about 30 minutes outside hitting balls with my son this evening. Once I got a chance, I stayed focused on my hip turn and just did slow swings with an occasional full shot every now and then.

9/8 - played 18 with the new balls.  I really like them and was able to chip in 1.  I focused on maintaining my posture and making my newish swing more natural.  It is going to take a while for it to feel right but I have been striking the ball very well.  My downfall again was putting though.  I 3-putted 1 time but I need to work on the 8-15 foot putts and give myself a chance on them.   I dont expect to make a bunch but I dont feel like I am giving myself the chance.  I will continue to work in this part of the game

Mirror work at the gym. Focused on centered hip turn. I noticed in my range session yesterday that I was sliding back a bit from set up to A4.

Putted on the putting green downstairs. A fake cup is on its way (tomorrow). That way I won't ever have to cut a hole in it.

Really, the fake putting green ended up being way overkill. I could have just laid the carpet down on the ground. I doubt Natalie will have me tip it very often, and it's much heavier than I thought it would be using aluminum.

Went to the driving range and got some video. I think I'm see progress on Key #1, my long time nemesis. Spent about 10 minutes practicing some chips. I turn around and see the rocket that NASA launched. Very cool site. Topped the evening off with a 2 mile walk and a swim in the pool.

9/08- low point control with 7i x 10 mins. Last time out (playing) I hit several fat wedges...giving it some attention.  The chipping yesterday was helpful

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
