I know there are a few different threads on your anti handicap and your current index and also a tournament thread so I was just wondering how your handicap would differ if you only counted competition rounds?

My current revision is an index of 1.4 and I have 14 T rounds this year. based off the 7 best differentials my tournament index would be 2.5

I realize this isn't scientific but I thought it would be an interesting if not enlightening discussion.

I don't think there's any doubt that a tournament only index would definitely be higher for anyone. At age 70, I rarely play in tournaments any more, other than men's club events at my home club, but my handicap floats between 2 and 4 (current index 1.9). Looking back 20 or 30 years ago, when I did play quite a few competitive events, my T-scores easily averaged 2 to 3 strokes higher than the rounds I played with my buddies. Of course, back in those days, Spyglass Hill (rating 75.5, slope 144) was the site for most of the NCGA's championships, and I can recall turning in my share of 82's and 83's there...not exactly like playing the good old home track!

Probably higher.  But I tend to either blow up or go low when the pressure is on.  Depends on the day and situation.

Higher.  Most tournaments are played on courses that I'm much less familiar with and they tend to be set up harder.  Of course the pressure associated with tournament play is a factor too, especially for those of us who only play a handful each year...

I would have said higher for sure, but it's closer than I thought.  I have 10 tourney rounds in the past 12 months and the best 5 differentials are 3.9, 5.3, 6.8, 3.0 and 4.0.

That equates to a 4.4 if I'm not mistaken.  So only 0.3 higher than my current handicap.

I have never played in any tourn's other than charity Capt Choice so I would not have a HI at all.

About the same.  The tournament venues we use are not terribly more difficult than what I typically play.  I have about 15-18 tournament rounds from May to September each year.

I'm quite a bit different.  Most tournaments I've played this year have been at courses I've played only once before or not at all.  But, the point of playing in them was to play courses I wouldn't otherwise play and just to get more tournament XP for future bigger events.  My current home/nearby courses HC is like +1.  While my tournament HC is about a 2.9.  But that gap is closing as I play in more events.  I've also started posting only tournament scores in my ghin, because it represents where I am in my game better.

It would make virtually no difference for me.  At least 25% of my play this year has been tournaments, but my scores are in the same range as they are for casual play.

You are 70 with 1.9 HI?   We are not worthy, we are not worthy, we are not worthy ...

I think my T-HI would be slightly higher although I don't have enough sample T-rounds.

I would've thought mine would've been higher, but if you take my last 18 tournament scores (Back to 2015), using my best 9, my index would be 5.3, almost a stroke lower.  If you take the 6 I've had this year, using the best 3, my index is 6.2.  0.2 higher than my current index.

My current handicap is 20.8, and I would guess if it would be nearer 120.8 based on comp performance. I play loads of comps, and in general am rubbish when I play them
