I have been playing footjoys for as long as I can remember and have typically spent from $120 - $180 for a pair.  I am an old timer and fan of the saddle style shoes they make and always insisted on leather with a multiple year waterproof guarantee.  This past August the sole separated from the top of the shoe and could not be repaired - This was the second season with the pair of Contours.  So off the Dicks and since it is late in the season there were plenty of good footjoys in size 13, but nothing in my size.  They did have a pair of the saddle greenjoys with a synthetic upper in my size on closeout for $49 and with my coupon I paid about $38.  I have played multiple rounds including in some rain and they are as comfortable as I would expect from a footjoy and provide excellent support and traction.  Again, I have had them for a short time, but looking for some opinions on the durability of the greenjoys.  Have I been wasting my money all these years?  I usually get 2-3 seasons out of a pair of golf shoes.

My first pair of cleats were Nikes ($80) and they took incredible abuse from all those bad lies in my first two seasons. Last week I noticed the waterproofing finally wore off (wet socks).

I also bought some Greenjoys from Golfsmith on clearance, about $40. I plan to wear them next year when the sun returns. I'm curious what people think of these. For half the price I figured it was a gamble worth taking.

My Spaulding golf shoes (with soft spikes) are at least 20+ years old. They still look pretty good. Why ? Because I seldom ever wear them. Most of the time all I wear are comfortable walking shoes. Other times tennis shoes. Only time I wear my golf shoes is if the course requires them, and I can't remember the last time I was required to do so.

    • Day 266 - More putting work, really focused on how my feet are lined up.
    • Day 80: a bunch of mirror work ole watching Michigan lose. Working on grip and downswing feels.
    • Day 5 - 2024-10-05 Hit some somewhat soft pitching wedges. The outside and inside, particularly the outside of the left thumb where my right hand goes on it, is still pretty sore. I don't think I'll do more damage, but I'm reluctant to do too much because I don't want to compensate or alter my motion.
    • Day 156 (05 Sep 24) - Played new to me course today, it’s near our beach place and have been wanting to play it for a couple of years now.  It’s a neat Par 70 that plays just over 6k from the tips, played the whites 5,500 +/-.  Tight fairways and severely undulating greens made for some great shot strategy.  Wound up with an even 80 that included two lost ball penalties.  Putter was solid - 28 total.  Wedge play kept the pars happening - 6 of the 9 pars were up and downs.  Not bad for the first time on a new course.
