Spent an hour at the chipping green today. Flopped over the bunker and did short to medium chips from man made terrible lies. Also hit several out of the bunker trying to get to 3'. Great little session, tons of fun !!!

12/13: 10 minutes backswing work. Primarily A3 to A4 focus with a more correct (and less laid off) position at the top. Flat left wrist. Feeling more and more natural.

Day 14. Woke up sick this morning. Have contracted the industrial strength crud that is going around. Pretty sure I won't be swinging any clubs for a day or two. Even worse the weather guy is forcasting rain for the next few days. So, any golf stuff I migjt do, will be in the form of reading about it. Right now I am going to start reading bits and pieces of Penick's Little Red Book. Just a good little read from a fine old golfer.

why are you talking about breaking 80 on the "breaking 90 thread"? as my nephew used to say, " That not nice."

When I finally break 80 I will be worthy of posting in the breaking 80 thread. I tell ya though, these peeps in the  90's thread are great. I sure hope alot of them if not all come with me. I will always talk with these guys/gals. We have grown together as golfers. Its the best. Hit Em Good Bud !!

Makes sense. Sounds like when you find a foursome or play with the same early morning crowd at your home course.  Great camaraderie! Every one  knows each other and his own brand of golf craziness. Stick to the short grass.

12/15 - 15 minutes mirror work. Focused on centered hip turn then getting the hips going forward to start the downswing. Mostly slow swings.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
