To be honest, I'm kind of more interested in the rescue video. If he hung on to his club, that would've helped a lot in pulling him out. How long do you have till hypothermia again? I'm sure he's okay, he's young, otherwise you'd hear about it.

Yeah, but we heard about it anyway. :-D

Here's a quote from SBnation:

Quote

There’s a setup shot at the beginning of the video, so your mind starts to wander. You think, hmm ... what is this guy trying to accomplish on the ice? Does he have any grass nearby he can play on, or is he in the arctic?

And then you realize, wait a sec, there are four ways this golf shot could go wrong.

  1. He could completely whiff on the ball.
  2. His club could punch a hole in the ice. (This is the most logical conclusion given the club is a metal object and the ice is, well, not known for its flexibility.)
  3. He could hit his own face with the club. (This is a legitimate and probable event, as I, too, have whacked myself in the face with a tennis racket.)
  4. He could slip and fall onto his butt because ice is reportedly a slippery surface.

But much to my delight, ALL FOUR THINGS HAPPENED. And the best part? I forgot that there’s this lovely thing called gravity, and he fell through the ice! Poor guy.

Luckily, his friend got this all on film and was hopefully there to help him out of the freezing water.

I'll add this as well:

5. Fall though the ice.

This all happened in a country club in RI somewhere. I'm sure his fellow club members will never let him hear the end of it. Apparently, stupidity, is not something only us poor southwestern folk are guilty of. . .:content:

If that ice was thick enough and I had skates on. I'd love to give that a shot. Maybe with the old CCM.

Better yet, Happy Gilmore on ice skates!

I've thought the old hockey stick may serve me better than my driver. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to conform to USGA regulations.

You could use a hybrid to do that. A punch shot would work well.

This is my favorite funny golf video of 2016 - like others have said . .it has everything.  You're watching the set-up thinking . .oh man, this isn't going to go well . .and then it goes *even worse* than you imagined when he actually falls through the ice.

But I wanted to say I'm impressed with the swing.  To even get to that backswing position on ice is pretty good. .my feet would've been slipping all over just getting to the top.  On the other hand . .he should have known there was no way to swing from there without traction.  Once he gets out of traction (ba-dum-ching!) I hope he doesn't try it again.

Hilarious!!!!!   I imagine his round was finished after that little escapade!  hahahahaha

Just A TAD BIT FAT, but to his credit...he was standing on a sheet of ice and slipped.  I give him an A for effort.   I liked the "GRUNT" as he landed flat on his back.

    • Why?  You would never be waiting on me.  I am one of the fastest players you will ever run into on the golf course.  I am extremely fit and almost always the first to the green and the first to the next tee box.  When I play with my 16 year old step son who is a 3 handicap, he tells me to slow down.  Also,  what does it take me?  40 seconds round trip to walk off 30 yards?  (which is the max I walk off)  I like to have a look at the break around the hole which helps me to hole out chips which I did for birdie from 27 yards just the other day.  I also do this while waiting on my playing partners to catch up to me so you need not worry about being irritated, I can pretty much guarantee you that you could not keep up with me on the golf course.  🙂
