When you move from p2(shaft parallel) to p3(arm parallel) is it simply raising the right arm up so that the left arm is parallel?

Is there any hip or shoulder action? or is that left for p3 to p4(top of backswing)?

Yes, there's both hip and shoulder rotation going on from P2 and P3

Depends. Some might feel just turning to there. Others might feel raising their left up. Some might feel where the hands are at. For me, I like to feel a bit more hinge from P2 to P3.

This is gonna sound weird.  If I stand facing my kitchen counter and reach for the peanut butter jar there and then put it in the cupboard 90 degrees to my right what happens to my shoulders/hips?

For me my hips turn with the shoulders some.  I wouldn't keep the hips fixed and twist my spine in a strained fashion to do that.

Turning the torso is of fundamental importance.

    • Can you elaborate on this?  There's a par-4 hole at the course I've played the most (was my home course for over a decade, now 50 miles away but I still go and play there) whose green is below the fairway and I realized recently it's one of three holes on the course I've never made birdie, despite that I often have a short iron into the green for my second shot.  It isn't even that I haven't made birdie, but I realize I often don't hit the green.  My typical play of the hole is to have a near-GIR and sometimes I get up and down, but not as often as I would if I were trying to 2-putt.
