19/4/17 - Spent 10 minutes on the putting mat using a very narrow gate to try to focus on start line (about a ball and a quarter). Was definitely getting more through the gate by the end of the 10 minutes than at the start, so I'll keep trying it!

Currently focusing on: Key 4 - shorter backswing.

April 19 - shoulder turn work today. Letting my elbow rest today. It felt good yesterday but after PT and chipping, it was a bit sore today.

4/19:  20 min. range session; focus on keys from last night (slower swing to drop properly into slot, a little more cover [which gave me better contact for sure])
10 min. putting session; focus on 5', 10', 20' ranges
Walked 9; just played and didn't think too much--recent short game work most definitely showed

April 21 - Mirror work with the Impact Snap Training Aid. Saw this in another post and I thought I'd give a try and write a review. It is along the lines of what I am working on with my Evolvr instructor anyway and it doesn't put stress on my elbow.

4/21: Got to the range and spent about an hour working a small bucket. No video, but just tried to stay aware of all the elements I've been working on at home. After spraining my knee, and then driving 2500miles up and down the east coast, it was good to get outside and just swing the club smoothly. I tried to just go at the ball about 75% with decent form. Will shoot for video submission next week, and update swing thread.

45 min. Sklz, 7i and driver

stop at top, pump, step thru and full swings--enormous troubles getting through full swing set with driver using proper form

3/3 alt 7i and driver

increased distance on chipping exercise--mistake! Went 0/11 on first round and trouble cleaning up all 11 to close out

rearranged my sked so I get to go practice AND play tomorrow!!! Woohoo!

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
