I walked 18 and carried my clubs once in 90 degree heat with probably 80% humidity.  Then I went home and slept for 30 hours straight.  I haven't walked a round since.

I'll walk if I have the time. Most times I have to finish as quickly as possible to avoid as much wrath as I can so I ride. It doesn't save a lot of time but 15-20 minutes earlier coming in the door can mean a lot depending on the mood :-P I've walked several times where it was so hot I had to stop and sit down to keep from passing out when I couldn't afford the extra money on a cart but still wanted to golf.

Might have mentioned this before but..I will walk if I am only playing 9 or 18.  If I am playing twilight it is only $10 more for a cart for me.  I can many times almost double the amount of holes I can get in with a cart vs. walking.

Wait, how is this unpleasant?

On topic. I walk when it costs an extra $14, because I'm cheap and it gives me exercise. I did find myself out of breath getting to my tee shots a few times, yesterday. I guess I need to get used to taking my time, and not be so anxious. Might even save me some strokes (ambiguity intended).

The weather isn't unpleasant, taking a day and a half to recover from the massive energy drain it causes is what's no bueno.

I really should walk more though, I'm sure the extra exercise would be good.

I probably should have re-worded that, it costs an additional $14 for the cart. There is one place where it's only $21 super twilight with cart.

You will gain some health back by walking. Start off with 9 holes, then work your way up to 18.

I prefer to walk and course designs that support walking ... however, living on the surface of the sun during the summer with temp 105+ its not healthy.

But I will walk every chance I get ,,, I like walking up to my shot and already planning it

I thought you were exaggerating, until I saw your location. Yes, it gets pretty hot in AZ. Pretty hot here too in So. Cal., but nothing compared to what you guys get.

We have a pretty nice course here that has all you can golf after 2 pm on weekends for 25 with a cart. I like to try to take advantage of that as much as I can.

Denver also tops 100 in July/August, with thin air as well.  I used to be a confirmed walker, now I'm a rider.  It works both ways.

I actually tone it down a few degree's ... I play even on those 115 days after work.

It seems like less and less courses are designed to be walked ... long stretches between holes.  That's why I am a big fan of older style courses.

If I'm playing 9 I usually walk. Otherwise, I ride or else my left knee will hate me the next day.

In my bag Driver: Cleveland CG tour black Fairway Woods: Diablo Octane 3 wood; Diablo 5 wood Irons: Mizuno MP53 5-9 Hybrid: Cobra 3, 4 T-Rail Wedge: 46* Cleveland, 50* Cleveland, 54* Titleist, 60* Titleist Putter: Odyssey protype #6 Ball: Maxfli U4/U6... But I'm not really picky about the ball I use.

Yeah the heat and humidity is very tame here so there's little reason to not walk.  It would probably improve my game too since bad shots would punish me with even more walking.  Ha

"Golf is a nice long walk spoiled."

Actually, the quote by Mark Twain did not contain the word "long" (He wrote "Golf is a good walk spoiled"), but more pertinent, that statement was made before the invention of the automobile.  He didn't have the option. :smartass:

    • I get kidney stones. So 100 oz of water every day. Some nights I drink 32oz between midnight and 6 Am. Which means I dont sleep much.
    • 46 (9 over) Short game and putts were awful!
    • 46+40 for an 86. I just need to play 9 holes on the range before each round. 🤣🤣🤣
    • I don’t measure my intake either. I generally have a black coffee, a bottle of soda, some sweet tea at home, and anything in between is water. An ice cold bottle of water is one of my favorite things. It feels like an immediate refresher for my body. I’ll admit that I need to drink a little more though.
    • For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
