I respectfully offer this photo of Sir Les Patterson, Australia's Cultural attache, as a strong rebuttal.

But seriously, I think players have more attachment to sponsors than to the standards others would prefer them to have.

I don't think Nike will be complaining.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

I find that I'm incapable of refuting that rebuttal.

A collar shirt would have made sense to me, but then again, who is to say a baseball cap is appropriate to even receive the trophy? not very classy either. Just playing devils advocate here. I'm not offended by any of it though.

Times have changed ask Ricky Fowler, or Michelle Wie.

smart casual is a phrase i hear a lot, when talking about dress code on the course.Or around it for this matter. that means different things to different people. jason looks fine to me,not smart. but not scruffy. as a newer golfer dress code is something that surprises me at a coulpe of the clubs ive played at,again smart casual is down to how the individual interprets it.

I have no issues with it. He didn't look ragged with what he was wearing.

Im not certain the PGA Tour has a dress code for the golfers after the tournament.

It sounds a bit old fashioned to me to say he needs to be wearing dress pants and a polo. I think his choice of clothes there is better than the stuff the tour let John Daly wear the past few years with the loud pants. :-P

+1. Like other "classic" sports, it needs to evolve or become an elite niche activity. Golf can evolve without completely losing its heritage, if all camps will give an inch (why does that sound familiar).

I am certain there was no disrespect on Day's part but now that I take another look I know that I would have brought an extra polo for the trophy presentation.  Not horrible, but I would class it up a bit.

I think it would have been more appropriate if he'd had on a golf shirt, but its really not something I'm going to get upset about.  Jason Day in a T-shirt looks better than I do in a tux!

    • Day 549, May 4, 2024 After lessons and working with Natalie, hit some balls for awhile. Just backswing stuff. Forgot about the slightly shorter stuff, though I'm sure it was as they were only about 75% speed with brief pauses.

    • Best drive I've ever hit: I will not be answering any questions about the rest of the hole. Or the round, for that matter.
    • I tried hybrids way back when TaylorMade introduced the copper orange Firesole Rescue, the clubhead having been made of titanium which was still relatively new even in drivers back then. I couldn't hit it well at all, and while the success of hybrids suggests that the modern ones must be quite good,  I'm perfectly happy with the 5, 7, and 9-woods.  Early ones of mine were Top Flite Intimidator 400s made by Spalding... and also made of titanium, now that I think of it.  I still have them in my basement. I do bag a driving iron, but it's a one-trick-pony that never sees fairway use.
    • The last time I played Maxfli balls, Dunlop was still making them. How long ago was that? Mostly, though, I used to play Top Flites (original 336 dimple model) when Spalding was still making them. Now I play the Pro V1x. Last time that I ordered some, Titleist was still making them. Let's see how long that lasts.
