Is there any drills or triggers to start the downswing with the hips so i dont get my hands and shoulders starting the downswing?

Check out Key #2

Best advice I can give you right now is to start a swing thread so we can help your specific needs. You want to make sure you fix the cause and not waste time trying to fix a compensation.

You don't want it to point at the ball during the backswing - I'll say it flexes back.

I would say it flexes toward the golf ball. Absolutely.

Hope the Grant Waite/Pressure video helps clear this up. I know the S&T people tell you that the weight moves forward during the backswing, but the data shows it does not. I have talked with a couple of instructors who once taught S&T, who have talked with Bennett/Plummer but I don't think as of yet, B&P admit what the data and pressure plates show. From talking with another instructor, he says to paraphrase - Sure S&T works with pros for a short duration, and then they plateau and go downhill. Now B&P may have changed their instruction, but here on TST, Erik and Mike have discussed that the pressure moves back and then forward as shown in the Dave Wedzick/Erik vid with Suzanne Petersen and Grant Waite. Good luck.

As I've seen @iacas say quite a few times though pressure doesn't equal weight.

I don't suppose that any two people would think of, or describe it, in exactly the same way; but the top of the backswing is a good place to begin the search.

Weight goes back in the backswing too. Just not as much as pressure. Ditto going forward in the downswing.

Hmm. I will have to finish watching that 17 minute analysis you guys have. I started it but wasn't able to finish it before work and was just getting to the good stuff.

Okay - my opinion, but many people are not acquainted with using the word "pressure" because in golf we've traditionally used "weight." Yes, I pressure the foot into the ground. I don't know the answer but when B&P were saying "weight," did they mean "pressure?"  I like the word "pressure" and the way it is described here and in the video helped open eyes when this vid was presented.

Agreed, it points at the ball, but I feared saying "point the knee at the ball. I think that creates a different motion. During the swing, the knee flexes inwards, I believe, although it points at the ball. At least that is the way my instructor explained it to me...

But the ball is ahead of the trail knee (should be) more forward, so 'knee moves inward' yes..but that in effect means the knee will 'point to the ball'.

    • Day 211 (29 Nov 24) - Friday men’s round albeit a solo foursome (temps in the 40’s, day after Thanksgiving and the average age closer to 75 - I’m a youngster at 65).  Interesting day of semi-solid play (8 of 18 GIR). Hit all four par threes in one (a first) - parred each; still had a couple 3 putt bogies; and blew up on 3 of the par 5’s (go figure)). The blow ups were some serious tree rattlers - amplifying how I got stupid and greedy instead of smart and content to just get back in the short stuff.
    • Day 60 - 2024-11-29 Got about 3.5' of snow today, so I was going to go to Golf Evolution, but… I only left the house to throw some snow. Instead, i checked out my putting stroke on HackMotion in the basement. Turns out… it's pretty good, and I'm very in touch with what I'm doing.
