Did not know this was a thing. Guessing the photo doesn't do justice to the difference. Why would you want a matte finish though (other than marketing reasons)? Anti glare?

I dunno.. matte finish = soft??

That tiny bit of paint or gloss isn't going to change that.

They're "softer looking" (like a suede) but not softer firmness.

Oh yeah, I totally meant it as an aesthetic pitch. Looks marshmallowy. But yeah, no way that affects actual property.

I played the Vivid for a while and I thought they were easier to pick out from distance, because they don't reflect light in the same way as "ordinary" balls. I used to play a lot of twilight golf and sun glare was an issue on several holes.

I stopped playing them mostly due to cost.

Man, out here in the fall, with the leaves, dandelions, and dew reflecting off the grass, sometimes it looks like there are several golf balls out there. I did switch back to the Titleist, but I still use a yellow one for contrast.

I would think yellow would be a bad color for the fall, leaves turning colors and all.

I was thinking the same thing.

Bright Purple or Neon Green might be better? I'm pretty sure that could present a problem at address though. :-D

Nah, just being silly :-D

. . .to each his own about golf ball colors etc. I found a Neon Orange ball that kind of looked like it could glow in the dark, but it was kind of painful to look at at address. I'm sure it was pretty easy to find on the grass, but I doubt that easy in a bunch of yellow/orange leaves like you see in the NE in fall.

I wonder how it looks in the rough. Sometimes I will walk past where I think my ball is and turn around to get a different angle of the sunlight when everything glares in one direction. Maybe the matte sticks out when everything is reflective.

Yellow is a terrible color for the fall.

Agreed.  Actually, the best golf ball I've used for fall leaves is the Vice Neon Green.  It has these glossy "specks" that give it a shine that stands out.

Of course, all yellow balls are not created equal.  The yellow NXT Tour has a similar "flake" look, and it's actually pretty easy to spot.
