He said "Hit a slump in the game last month…" so you kind of have an idea how long a break he took, no? :-)

An idea.

You can hit a slump, struggle for awhile and then stop playing. The only thing that answers was that it wasn't any longer than a month.

For what it matters.

Going to be around a full month now.

A month is nothing. I stopped all golf stuff for about 5-6 months just because it was getting kind of boring.

At this point, I've been back at it for a couple months and enjoy much more than if I dragged on playing.

Do other things in parallel to golf. Golf is fun when you look forward to playing. It's not work!

I have said this before, but I don't think folks give up the game. They give up on themselves, playing the game.

Take an extended break from the game. Start again fresh when you are ready.

A lot of people quit playing for a little while or sometime a long while. You can't really force yourself to love something. I'm sure there is something that is making you lose the drive to play if you really think about it.

One additional thought, one of the things I have started this summer was buying a pushcart and walking more often. I don't walk every round, but I will say that getting out of the cart has made me enjoy the rounds more. I have a regular group where we all walk and the ability to chat as we walk to our balls makes for a much more enjoyable round. And keep in mind, I am playing in Texas where it is HOT, but it is still enjoyable.

Look for ways to add some additional value to your round other than just "score". For me, it's a little bit more exercise and a lot more pleasant conversations. Score seems to take care of itself from there.

Thanks all. Been having a think the last day or so and realised the moment I decided I'd had enough. Played a course which is usually the easiest in the area and had a nightmare on it. Maybe I went into it a bit too cocky and it backfired on me and carried forward to a few rounds after. At least I've identified it now I guess!
