What is that with the band and working the hands up the wall criss cross? That was weird.

Assuming that's a resistance band, it looks like it works his forearms, wrists, and shoulders.

I believe the hands up the wall with bands is for rotator cuff strengthening. We did a lot of that back when I played baseball in college.

I am impressed by the core strength he showed. Those single leg exercises are very difficult to do and he made them look effortless

A little off topic, but I saw Justin Thomas recently, live, at Glen Oaks, he's not a big guy obviously, but he looked rail thin. Seeing the videos you can see more meat on his bones. I guess it's true the TV, now YouTube, puts on 10 pounds.

Yep, it is. I think that is the resistance band I usually use above my ankles (and then do the walk). Just found another use for them.

I like it. A lot of those you can do at home as long as you have the resistance bands.

Was assuming "that kid" is still a better golfer than you regardless of what kind of workouts he does...

And you've got the wrong pro golfer when youre talking about natty light. Smylie's got that covered already.59cbd749d5588_2017-09-2712-50-10_smyliekaufmannaturallight-Bingimages-GoogleChrome.thumb.png.e6a443f583c0a85927be02c13df9a8c6.png

It appears like he's not looking to develop size.  I would be intrigued to see what his diet consists of.

Im not going to say that bulking up hinders your golf game, but these guys are trying to be fast, not super strong. Guys like Brooks Koepka can pack on some muscle and still do it, but Brooks and Justin are two entirely different body types. Justin could eat 10k calories a day and lift heavy and probably not gain a ton of weight considering how thin he is. He must have a crazy fast metabolism.

Oh, I didn't think he was trying to bulk up.  If anything, he's trying to build up his core strength and, like you said, increase his speed.

I mention his diet because as you noted, he's rail thin so I'd be curious to see what he eats as I'm sure you know it's a big component to training and fitness.  For all we know, he always been thin just doesn't feel the need eat much (relatively speaking).

I follow him on snapchat and IG and he seems to eat a pretty normal diet. He doesn't appear to drink alcohol often (at last he doesn't post when he does). He doesn't have special meals or takes weight gainer shakes or anything. I would say he probably is conscious of what he eats but probably isn't on a very strict diet.

Yeah, that seems about right.  I on the other hand have a hearty appetite and have to be careful lest I go overboard too often and suffer the results, haha.

You're preaching to the choir on that!

    • LIV golf was pretty close to me in 2023, at the same course that hosted the 2023 Senior PGA.  I didn't go to either one.  I do know a few people who went to the LIV event, and they said it was pretty well attended and pretty well run.  If I had free tickets, I might show up, but I'd probably have to drive 10 miles to park to get a shuttle to come back to within 5 miles of my house.
    • As long as "in town" means a drive of less than an hour, I'd probably go.  I've never actually been to a pro golf event, so it would be a novelty. Presumably, they'd be playing on a course that I'm not normally allowed to visit, so there would be an interest in just going to see the place. My tolerance for traffic is pretty minimal, so if massive headaches are predicted it would dampen my enthusiasm.
    • I would definitely buy tickets and go watch a round or two.
