Regularly doesn't mean "daily" or "weekly" or even "monthly" @Lihu. I said above the best students I have, the ones who improve the most and the most consistently, are the "regular lessons throughout the year" types. Might only be four throughout the year, but they don't just take a bunch in the winter and then go away for eight months.

Yeah, @Wanzo explained that to me as well.

For some reason I assumed it meant weekly or bi-weekly? That was just based upon some of the "GolfTec" schedules and knowing some playing partners who see them almost daily. It seems to me that a frequency that high is just encouraging no practice in between lessons.

That's pretty good!

So, do you stock the reservoirs with Bass or something? :-D

Off topic...

Spoiler

Most lakes and ponds with bass this far west have been stocked at one time or another.  I don't know if there is a schedule for stocking bass around here or not - bass are pretty good at taking hold and self spawning once they get established.  I know that probably 90% of the trout caught in Colorado are stockers, even though the greenback cutthroat is native to the state.

My swing is what is what is is at this point, so i cant say i get "lessons" anymore. But i do work with someone a couple times a year on my fundamentals, tempo and alignment, which are my largest problem areas. Most of my wild shots are the result of poor alignment or getting too quick. I self correct this alot of time, but sometimes having a second pair of eyes on you is useful.

Maybe I should rethink my plans to take 6 lessons next spring about 2 weeks apart. I was thinking any more frequent and I won’t have time to practice and ingrain what I’ve been taught. OTOH our golf season is 22 weeks, so if I space them out too much, it seems the benefits will come too slowly/late. Thanks for making me think about it...

Somewhat related, I’d agree with this:

I've taken one lesson in my life, and that was on a very specific part of my game. But having talked to the pros I know they like to make changes and then allow time for their students to work on those changes before they see them again. Also depends on the student etc.

I am now looking for a coach, not an instructor. When found, I will see him/her a few times this Fall.  -Marv

What’s a coach, and where would you find one?

I found the term in Shoemaker's Extraordinary Golf . A coach is someone who helps the golfer find and trust his own innate abilities. Rather than a "system"of mechanics (though mechanics are included). I once had a coach, aN Young you    ex-college player working as a club asst. pro. He had a gift of educating inside out. He would say, "I'd like to see your hands a little higher there. How does that feel? Do you feel that." Sorry bout the spelling above . Trouble with tablet. Anyway, he went on to run our FiRst Tee program. I'm still looking. -Marv

You're far more reasonable than some. Some years ago my buddy contacted a local teacher looking for help with a specific problem. The guy wanted to sign him up for an extended series of lessons! It became obvious that the teacher wanted to teach him "his" swing! My buddy walked away, and I told him it was probably for the best.

That's another way of saying "A good teaching pro can tell you more about your swing in 15 minutes, than you can figure out by yourself in a whole Summer!"

Over the year. In the winter, I post indoor drills and swings to my Evolvr teacher. This winter it will all be rehab work after my surgery.
