It's getting difficult to keep up with all the latest developments.  A 3 wood comes out that replaces the driver; then a driver debuts that replaces the 3 wood that replaced the driver; and now I'm supposed to tee off with a putter.  The 48 inch sand wedge cannot be far behind.

Idk if putters are put together well enough to withstand more than a couple swings like that. Not saying they will fall apart, but would be interesting to see at what point it bent.

That's up there with the driver off the deck for me. Cool as hell. I can't even take a full swing with my putter. It's too short and all sorts of weighted wrong; it feels weird.

Actually, the driver off the deck can be useful in a round and this, not so much. Still cool though.

The extreme low loft has allowed me to hit some pretty good "trouble/recovery" shots with a putter.  

The latest was a few weeks back.  Just into the right woods about 70 yards out on a par-5.  No shot directly towards the green.  Hit a hard low slice that probably turned 50 or more degrees and ran up onto the green for a routine 2-putt par.

Don't ever forget the putter is in the bag...

I did that once during driving range practice in high school with a teammate's putter. Caught the ball flush but snapped the putter off at the hosel. Wouldn't recommend.

I've used my putter to get out of a problem spot a few times. Those times are rare. I have hit this shot more times on the practice range, than when playing. I usually use it when I don't have much room to swing another, longer club. Other times to get out of a unrepaired fairway divot. 

I don't think I have ever swung my putter full speed, except maybe on the practice range when I wanted to see what the ball would do. 

Like when using my driver otd, I have  to setup, aiming left to allow for a  fade, or a mini slice. How far left depends on distance. 

Part of my facination with golf is being able to figure out different shots when needed. Sometimes my putter is the right tool for the job at hand. Call me nuts, but managing par, after being totally lost off the fairway, or otherwise in jail,  ranks right up there with a text book birdie as far as my satisfaction goes.

Honestly though, it's the lack of loft on the putter that helps.  You can hit a cut, or hook that turns a LOT.  It's not going 100 yards, and you don't want to damage the club, but you'd be surprised how big of a turn you can get and how much run.

Golf used tp be kind of simple. You had 3 or 4 woods in your bag, 6 to eight irons, a wedge and a putter. With all these new technologies coming along to have all of these things you need a trailer hooked up to the back of youe golf cart. Teeing off with your putter, at least someone fpouynd a good use for it! :cry:

      Day 3 (11 Mar 26) - midweek round with friends.  Good session with an 83 (38 / 45).  Got some great up and down pars (6 of 9) with a total 27 putts.  Made for a relaxed round.

      Day 206 3-11 Focused on wider backswing and reconnecting arm in downswing. Wasn't really happy with how swing was looking today. Wider backswing is very different for me. Went back to do a some longer pauses at the top. Hit a few foam balls.

      This is an awesome breakdown. most of the bigger tournaments usually have one wave with the advantage, Thank you for the breakdown. If it is soft then it will be a lower final score

      Over the past 15 years, the winning score has ranged from -10 to -20. Mostly around -13.  Here is Thursday and Friday weather. Saturday and Sunday weather. I think the course will play soft. Plenty of sky cover, lots of rain on Thursday. Fairways and greens will probably stay soft throughout the week.  In terms of tee times, I think Thursday morning and Friday afternoon have the biggest advantage.
