Day 218 - September 9, 2018 - Eight or nine minutes of full swings with a 5-iron focusing on my pieces, much to the annoyance of my daughter. 🙂

DAY 290    The course where I practice was just sold on Friday, the new owner is making LOTS of great improvements, so today they closed the course in the afternoon to begin some of those on-course and practice range improvements.  However, I was able to practice around the putting/chipping green for a couple of hours.  I have been working on improving my chipping/pitching motion.  So I practiced hitting shots with just my right hand only on the club AND then with only my left hand only.  In the last month I have made a lot of progress hitting the ball with just my left hand on the club -- improved contact and distance control.

The young man in the Instagram posting below is demonstrating what I am talking about when I wrote about right hand only chipping/pitching to better learn the proper movement pattern.

Day 62

Primarily mirror work on set up combined with outdoor concentration on swings with eepig the head down.  As well, worked on a smooth motion in the hips.  Hey, at my age, having a day to concentrate on body motion is a very good thing.

Day 96.  First practice session with my latest evolvr lesson.  Indoors (I'm back home now), mat, into a net, real balls.  First time using the rear mirror (that's a mirror behind me) and I checked my arm hang.  I don't have the caddie view mirror yet, so I had to go look at my hips and head based the same way I usually do.  But it was weird looking back at the mirror before every swing -- I hope I don't ingrain that!  But wow, between the video + my inspection of what felt natural, I was way off.  Once again, I got to see the benefit of S-L-O-W swings, even though I suspect these are faster than they should be.

Day 253

Aired up my Clicgear tires to start things off this morning. I have one of the originals.

Next I played 9 holes of regulation golf with a buddy. The two of us have been sharing our games with each other for almost 40 years.

Focus was on talking smack at each other, and commenting on other golfers' errant shots. This took our minds off our own poor ball strikes.

We really didn't keep score, other than holes won, tied or lost. Our games are pretty similar scoring wise. He got me by one hole. I think he used a foot wedge on that hole.

We just had a good time in each others company. If we want, we can play another nine later today. It's already payed for, as the course charges the same for 9, or 18. $12 for walking. They like us old guys, and our retirement monies.

Day 54:

Got to the range prior to the rain coming in. 20-30 minute session working on some feels. Did some sort "partial swings" with the feels and that helped translate better to the full swing. I hit my 9, 7, and 5 irons today using these feels. I was hitting my 9 Iron very well with a slight push draw that landed right on target most of time. Misses were primarily slight pushes that did not draw. 7 Iron I also hit well with a straighter ball flight and perhaps a slight fade now and again. Some really flush center contact here. I struggled a bit with my 5 Iron though. I may have been getting tired since I got a larger bucket of balls than normal. Still managed to hit some great shots, but had a few bloopers scattered in there as well.

Day 63

Worked golf related stretching, mainly on the hips working in a way to improve contact point.  Hit a brief 25 half shots to set coordination into the body. and mind.

DAY 291   Stayed inside most of the day -- fighting the flu!!! :-(   So the only choice was to get my PuttOut out of its box, and work on my putting from 5-6 feet.  I like the feedback you get when you hit the ball just right and it stays in the hole.  Kinda like the feeling you get from a slot machine paying off!! LOL!!

Day 41.

Got a response from my instructor and did some work indoors after work because it's raining of keeping my hands low, having the clubhead rise quicker than my hands, and keep my lower body quiet from A1 to A2

Day 97.  Only had time for a dozen balls (and associated practice swings) indoors, net, real balls, mat.  Mirror behind me to see that my arms are hanging well.  I'm hitting it well and it isn't feeling weird, so I'm probably doing something wrong because this is only session two with the adjustment.

Day 3, Sept 10

Mirror work at the gym. Focused on pre-shot, setup and alignment, then my priority piece.

Hmm. I posted this yesterday and it didn't take for some reason.

Day 4, Sept 11. Playing 18 today. Will focus on pre-shot and set up.

Day 254............9-11-2018

Another full bag day, (13 clubs) on the driving range, using my usual staggered club routine. Maybe 45 +/- balls.

Follwed the range session up with sometime on the practice putting green using one ball.

Focuses were the same as I previously posted in this thread.

Day 220 - September 11, 2018 - 25 minutes going at honestly too fast a pace with a 6-iron downtown to hone in on the good feelings. I'm disappointed in my lack of discipline for the first 15 minutes, but the last 10 were good.

    • I honestly believe if they play longer tees by 300-400 yards, closer to or over 7,000 yards, more rough, tougher greens, women's golf will become much more gripping.  BTW, if it weren't for Scottie killing it right now, men's golf isn't exactly compelling.
    • Day 542, April 26, 2024 A lesson no-show, no-called (he had the wrong time even though the last text was confirming the time… 😛), so I used 45 minutes or so of that time to get some good work in.
    • Yeah, that. It stands out… because it's so rare. And interest in Caitlin Clark will likely result in a very small bump to the WNBA or something… and then it will go back down to very low viewership numbers. Like it's always had. A small portion, yep. It doesn't help that she lost, either. Girls often don't even want to watch women playing sports. My daughter golfs… I watch more LPGA Tour golf than she does, and it's not even close. I watch more LPGA Tour golf than PGA Tour golf, even. She watches very little of either. It's just the way it is. Yes, it's a bit of a vicious cycle, but… how do you break it? If you invest a ton of money into broadcasting an LPGA Tour event, the same coverage you'd spend on a men's event… you'll lose a ton of money. It'd take decades to build up the interest. Even with interest in the PGA Tour declining.
    • Oh yea, now I remember reading about you on TMZ!
