Day 52: 2/15/2022

I did a bunch of putting drills on lunch today. Mostly trying to hit the ball through narrow gates a couple of feet away. Probably spent a solid 20 minutes on it.

I was also in an on-line training this morning, so I did the chipping ladder drill twice on each break. Probably another 20 minutes total.

I worked on my priority piece swinging a 7-iron in front of my mirrors. I got to the range for a small bucket to try everything out while focusing on the Priority piece. Only hit a little bucket.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Day 31:

Worked on downswing priority piece with Mevo+ today. It was dark outside and I was too lazy to bring out my work light, so I don't think the Mevo+ was aligned correctly (too dark to see anything in camera in setup mode), so I'm not sure why I bothered (okay, I know why, the device is really cool), and I couldn't find the center of the clubface (normal for me in low light, miss off the toe, half way off the grooves 80% of the time).

A few things I am happy with though; vertical launch angle is in my "good" window, AoA is consistently 3-5deg down, and no violent hooks.

Day 69 (16 Feb 22) - played 18 today.  Tried to remain consistent, but pain in left foot on the grafted skin area (had a mall breakdown of the skin) forcing me to bail on loading the lead foot.  2nd half of the round, I was heavy on the rear foot making for weak swings.  Will need to rest the foot for a couple of days….skin breakdowns suck!

Day 53: 2/16/2022

I hit way too many balls today. Worked on my priority piece hitting balls into the net with the Skytrak. Then starting hitting driver into the net and I got into a groove. So, I went to the Skytrak long-drive thing and hit way way too many balls. Had fun though. My best drive carried 274 yards. My worst drive carried .... less than 74 yards. 🤪

Just did the ladder drill twice while the kids got ready for bed. I went up and down the ladder twice with each club, Therefore I chipped 4 balls each to 6 feet, 12 feet and 18 foot targets. I used the 54 and the 60 today.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Mostly took the day off, but got five minutes in with putting before lessons.

Day 32:

Practiced with Mevo+ again this afternoon/evening. It was dark, but not as dark as yesterday, so I think I had the device aligned pretty well. Also figured out how to stop the radar from going to sleep during my rehearsals between balls.

Used a 6-iron today, and started off working on transition move/feel, but something didn't seem quite right today even though I was making good contact with the ball. Stopped hitting balls and did 10 minutes working on backswing and discovered I wasn't making a full turn. Then back to Mevo+ for about 15 minutes. Might do more backswing work with LVP as digital mirror after children are in bed.

Day 74. 2/17/2022

day 10 Covid-19 practice plan and begin practicing driving steps outlined in LSW by powdering driver face. Interesting results from first 5 balls, first 3 were off the center toe, next 2 center face. (Is it possible just my focus of attention on this could make the required results?). This will be fun to calibrate in future practice sessions.

Under construction, signature and game.

    • I had the D-9's a while back, thought the stock Wilson grips were rubbish.  I put Pure grips on them. Pure is now out of business but available on Golfworks.  Currently some colors in stock as of today. PURE Wrap Golf Grips - The GolfWorks PURE Golf's tackiest grip, the Wrap features a perforated wrap design and is ideal for golfers that prefer a slightly softer, more muted feel at impact.
    • If he had to hit over the bunker, I'm guessing he was further from the hole, although "in front of" implies the opposite.  If that's right, that may have been the right spot for penalty relief, a single PS.
    • Day 52. Trying to work on hard pan lie pitching in the rain in the yard.
    • Did you look up any Rules before posting here? What did you learn or find? You don't get to drop (or place) closer to the hole. 16.1(c) deals with relief for Abnormal Course Conditions in bunkers. You're granted free relief for: Since you say the bunker was basically entirely full of water, you likely wouldn't get complete relief, so for free (no penalty strokes), you are entitled to "maximum available" relief. If there's a spot in the back of the bunker away from the hole where the water is the shallowest, then you can drop there. If you don't like any of those options, you can take a penalty stroke and drop out of the bunker, behind it: You seem to have played from a wrong place (nearer to the hole) and thus likely should be penalized two strokes. It doesn't sound like a serious breach, at least.
