Day 25 (15 Jul 23) - Worked on maintaining speed thru impact zone.  Started with making swings that started “behind the ball” - kinda like a dragster taking off from the starting line from a standstill, then to swings starting from horizontal, finally to full swings.

Ping G400 SFT 10deg  R flex
Ping G410 3w R flex
Ping G400 3h and 4h R flex
Taylormade SLDR 5i thru PW graphite shaft R flex
Cleveland CBX wedges - 50, 54, 58 or 52, 58 (depending on my mood)
Odyssey Versa or White Steel #5

Day 5.  I went to a (real!) chipping green and hit 18 (6 balls x 3 times) chips using the technique I tried yesterday, although I hadn't exactly ingrained anything.

I also tried putting for speed awareness, but after a few minutes, I realized my mind wasn't on it, and I didn't want to just go through the motions if it wasn't going to be thoughtful practice, so I stopped.

An hour practicing in the net, trying to shallow my swing. Followed by a couple of hours of short-game practice before finishing with 20 mins or so of short putts on a Matt. Busy day.

Work in the back yard. Still just two things to work on, but doing them BOTH is tough.

Day 6.  The main thing today was my first full "Fit for Golf" workout in a while (I was very negligent the past seven months, which is unfortunate for many reasons;  it's a great program).

Day 34: Jul 17

Played 14 holes at home course - played two tee shots (some of the time) then played a single ball in. Lots of tap-in putts for bogey, the weaker/poorer tee shots were typically playable. Really good confidence booster.

    • Day 191 (09 Nov 24) - After band rehearsal and afternoon yard work, broke out the 8i and hard foam balls to work on low pitches.  Main emphasis was on foot (especially the lead) position, hip rotation and ball position.  Spent time between each shot reflecting on the results of the previous swing. Making small adjustments as needed.
    • Seconding the aimpoint thing. I had a tournament a couple of weeks ago. Had a putt from the fringe about 25 feet. I looked at it and I thought it looked flat, then went to do my aimpoint and I was trying to figure out the left right break, but realized I was on quite a downslope. Turned sideways to do it the other way and estimated about a 3% slope downhill. Basically straight. It was on a green with two tiers and I was all on the top tier. It's a hole that's benched into a slope and I think relative to the slope around me it just looked flat. My feet told me otherwise and I hit that putt like it was six inches and got it to tap in distance. If I had only relied on my eyes I'd have been chipping from off the green (literally - greens were very fast and the hole was only 6-8 feet from the tier. That ball would have gone off the green. When I got in the clubhouse afterwards people were talking about how many putts they had on that green. Combine that with my having four-putted 4 holes earlier (another tier was involved in that one except I had to go down it). I was thanking my lucky stars I did the aimpoint check. Use your feet. It might take you a little while to get used to it, but once you do, it's golden.
    • Agree.  Look at it from the side to determine if it's uphill or downhill. Also, look at the hole and determine the highest point of the hole.  That's the direction of uphill, at least near the hole.
