Day 34 - Getting closer to where I want to be, need to turn my hips a bit more in the backswing. More swings using Mirror Vision, as well as an alignment stick through my belt loops.

Day 31 - Worked on "finishing the swing", i.e. positions 7 - 10.Β  Β After listening to a podcast that discussed shanking the ball and possible causes I knew that was some of what I have seen of late.Β  Started with the SW, setting the clubhead just ahead of the ball on the ground, and working from 7 thru 10 in step by step motions.Β  After about 15 or so "step sessions", took my first swing going with a 3/4 swing with no ball.Β  Β A series of swings there and then off to the "hard" foam balls.Β  Spent the next 20 mins or so just hitting them toward various targets - focusing on what happens after impact and making sure that what happened before allows me to finish well (well maybe not well, but better as I have a long way to go).Β

DAY 63Β  February 4thΒ  It was GREAT to get out to the range today for a few hours!!!Β  Β I have been working on improving my swing plane on my downswing, ... those who have been reading my notes, know I have a tendency to turn my back shoulder too much around on the downswing instead of under, which causes a pull, and not great club-turf interaction.Β  The work I have been doing in my garage these last couple days, showed up a lot during my practice.Β  Do I have a ways to go, yes, but things are continuing to move in the direction I have as my goal.Β Β Β Β

Day 33 - Putting work this morning using a modified "double" gate drill.Β  Set two balls just wider that the putter head (about 1/4" each side)Β  with another two balls set about 4" apart roughly 5' away.Β  Putting on the bedroom carpet, so this simulated "slow" greens, which means a good solid strike is required.Β  This drill is a follow-up to the head on the wall drill yesterday.Β  The goal - not "bump" either of the starting gates, finish with the downswing at the same height as the backswing with the struck ball going through the finishing gate.Β  What I love about this is the instantaneous feedback - at both ends.Β  Good swing, no balls moving except the ball being putted, was usually rewarded with the ball rolling through the target gate.Β  Best round was when I stacked all for balls in a row starting in the target gate to just outside it.Β  Finished the drill with "lag" putts to the edge of the carpet/start of hard wood flooring.Β  The goal - to see how close I could come to the edge without taking the forever roll down the hall...now that was not easy.Β  But learning ball control on the greens has been a goal as my scorecards consistently show way too many 3 putts and occasional 4 putts.Β

DAY 65Β  February 6thΒ  Β I will be doing my 5 Minutes indoors for the next three days, as I am Chair of a group of volunteers for the Heroes Ladies Invitation golf tournament. ..Β  If you have been following me I have been working on eliminating the sway off the ball on the backswing and forward of the ball on the downswing.Β  So today I spent time working on my downswing, by putting my lead foot against a wall, setting up in golf posture, then with my hands across my chest, turning back and through.Β  On the through, my shoulders and arms do not hit the wall so I am not swaying... what I can say after doing this lots of times today, is that is shows tightness in my left hip.Β  Β Can't wait to take this to the range on Wednesday.
