Day 434:

Intended on doing a superspeed workout, but a minor strain in something around the left side of my collarbone that flared up a bit, so just did some Covid-19 day-3 backswing drills, and then hit some 50% speed (feel) shots with 7-iron, focus on recentering/flow.

Day 420 - February 21, 2021

Pot Day! Long day downtown, 7:30am to 5:00pm, but a good day. Got a lot of strain on the ol' Whoop. Got some practice in briefly, namely pitching practice. I hit a pretty incredible flop shot with the toe down, almost over my head.

Day 1.  Played today, if we can call it that.  Actually I played well, not counting putts, which is my preferred scoring method but isn't actually allowed.  But for real, I putted horribly.  No, really, 12+ strokes lost putting.  I hit 8 GIR + 5 near + another green with a full swing to set up a par attempt and didn't break 90.  Like, this was bad putting even by my standards.

After dinner, I went to a nearby course that has a lit practice area and putted for 30 minutes.  No drills (this putting green, at least tonight, didn't seem set up for that) but got some decent practice in.  Going to have to be a nightly thing for the next week before a fourball match on Saturday.

Day 48 (Feb 22 2021) - worked on Shoulder Pitch drill from Day 2 of the 30 day Challenge last year....while I did not video it, I was in front of the mirror.  Seeing much better on plane shoulder rotation than from a year ago.  Good to revisit these drills in the dead of winter.....

Day 47 - despite playing relatively well a couple of weeks ago for my first time out this year, on the range that day Prior to the round, I was “drawing” everything 20yds left. I felt like I had an abnormally strong grip, and so I weakened it for the round and, again, played relatively well.
But I’m struggling with my grip still. Nothing seems comfortable. So I worked on it today going back to the basics.

Day 421 - February 22, 2021

Fifteen minutes before lessons working on some things. I was swinging back a bit too far, in trying to get height, I got too much. Good session in the end, that started out badly and needed a good thought to right the ship.

Day 435:

Still have some soreness from the strain around the left hand side of my collarbone, so no superspeed or full swing stuff today. I did some COVID-19 day-5 and day-3 drills, and then a little bit of indoor putting (yardstick).

Day 2.  Before dinner, I spent ten minutes in my golf room hitting 6-iron shots;  some full grip, some flight grip.  About a shot a minute.  After dinner, I went to a nearby course with a night-lit putting green and putted for 45 minutes.  The cups were cut about 2-3' from the edge of the green, so I couldn't do an around-the-world drill, but I did plenty of different directions and distances.

Day 132: Went to the range for a change to work on my priority piece and see ball flight. Slipped into the bad habit of just hitting in the middle of the session, but then recovered. The balls were those awful floating type that were really beat down. Not much to gain on distance, but start direction helped.

Day 49 (Feb 23 2021) - Got to go to the course today to play.  Worked on course management, primarily where did I want to hit the approach shot into the green from on the 4's and 5's, in essence working from green back to the fairway.   Have to say it is much more comfortable hitting a shot you really like into the green as opposed to one at an awkward distance.

    • Day 59: just a short bit of mirror work and foam balls. Working on the leg stuff throughout the swing.
    • Day 601 - 2026-05-25 Short-ish day with only some later Skillest lessons, so I stayed after and got some swings in. GEARS Hybrid was set up for a lefty, so… not that. 🙂
    • Day 21, May 25.  Hit "the whole bucket" as practice today after reviewing my Skillest lesson.  I think something crept into my swing last week that wasn't in the lesson, so I went back to the lesson and renewed my focus.  Each ball was a minute or so, 2-3 slow rehearsal backswings and checking the mirror for how far back I was going. "The whole bucket" means every ball I have in the bin at my indoor practice room;  I counted when I put them back, that's six dozen plus six total.  That is probably more full swings than I took over the weekend (excluding range warm-ups) in two rounds!  But these were all with a 6-iron.
    • Day 265 5-25 Hit some balls just to see where i was, no "thoughts' except getting arms in front. Did some recording where i focused on getting chest through and arms in front.
    • Day 76 (25 May 26) - Broke out the "vintage" clubs (MacGregor blades, Wilson 4150 laminates) to work with clubs that are much less forgiving.  Worked through the bag using hard foam balls for the full swings, regular balls for the chips and pitches.  Found it to be a more focused session on making consistent contact.
