Day 71 (24 Aug 22) -  Worked on pitches with wedges and chips with irons in the backyard with grandson.  Working from 1/4 to 1/2 swing, focused on not slowing down but maintaining speed thru impact.  Ball striking much more consistent.

Day 30, August 24, 2022: I worked on pitch length swings for contact using a lanyard ball. I worked with the launch monitor after this, lengthening the swing a bit but low speed, working on path and face angle. Finally I worked with Hack Motion on wrist angles.

Day 670: Practiced at NK with @Bob M . Worked on my alignment first. I’ve been having trouble setting up correctly noticed a lot of shot going left of what I thought was my target line. Turns out I am aligning a bit more left that I thought. Wired on my PP and did slow swing drills. Then Bob showed my a quadrant drill for driver to help with key 4.

Finished with wedges and more alignment work.

Day 172.  Played the second nine holes at WW, which I've been hearing about for a while.  The course is gorgeous, and my only complaint about my play is I seem to hit the ball further than I am expecting a few times.  That and I apparently managed to hit a 7-iron approach so well the ball spun back a few feet.  Pars on 10, 12, 15, and 17 after coming off a plane less than two hours prior to hitting my first shot, and I didn't hit any warm up balls.

Day 31, August 25, 2022:  Today I practiced again with the lanyard ball, and then with 3/4 length swings without the ball. The emphasis was on centered contact and proper sequencing of body, arms, hands, club. Indoor practice into the screen.

Day 18:

Continued to work on the same full swing piece; getting depth and keeping the backswing feeling "short". Worked with 6-iron, 3W and Driver today. Driver and 6-iron were good with regards to contact and vertical/horizontal launch, but 3W is frustrating.

Day 671: Range today at LL. Worked on the same drill again with 7 iron and driver. Ball flight is starting to get pretty repeatable and closer to my toe line with slight draws as long as I don’t swing OTT. Worked on path a bit too, especially with driver. My other focus is a long, slow high backswing as I tend to get short on the course.

Day 39: 8/26/2022

I did stuff yesterday, but forgot to report on it. So, I guess today is day 39.

Got to the range today and spent 20 minutes working on my priority pieces. Then I did random practice. Hitting driver, then 8 iron, then hybrid, then 6 iron, and kept it random for about 20 minutes. Lastly I got into a game/contest with another guy there and we competed hitting shots, 200 yard fade. 150 yard draw. ... etc... Kind of fun and I actually did better than I thought I would.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Played seven holes (and made seven pars), including the ninth where @RJohn23 made an ace (that neither of us, nor the people on the patio, saw go in).

Day 73 (26 Aug 22) - Played 18 solo today using worst ball format.  Two balls off the tee, play from the worse tee shot with the two balls, always working from the worst of the two shots.  Really like the challenge to effective course management and dealing with less than ideal lies/looks.

Day 32, August 26, 2022: I practiced with the lanyard ball and worked up from little pitch motions to 3/4 swings. When I got in a decent rhythm I put the simulator on and played Seminole. I was a little wild for the first 6 holes (first tee shot OB) but was even par for the last 12 holes with 3 birdies. Hit 9 greens. I finished by going back to the launch monitor and again working on short swings just trying to get center face contact and a good face angle.

Day 19:

Worked with 9-iron, 6-iron and Driver indoors with LVP camera, focusing on backswing. Backswing feeling is that it is very short, checking periodically on camera to make sure I am not overdoing the "short" feeling, or going to far. Also checked to make sure club is not going too much inside.

Hit balls into my net with same clubs, continuing the short backswing feel. Everything is feeling real good right now, so I think I am due for a check on my LSW shot zones with Mevo+.

    • Day 27 (7 Dec 25) - Got in a few swings with 9i and hard foam balls in backyard.  Setup weight fwd (rebuilt left foot really lets me feel the weight in a slightly painful way) - kept the backswing to around 9 o’clock focusing on contact and resulting divot pattern.  Like how the hard foam balls come off the face (almost like real balls in sound).  A good abbreviated session as I only able to hit about a dozen balls in the fading light.
    • Day 117 12-7 A bit of chipping practice today. Full swing- hit some real balls to see where Im at.
    • Not the part I was replying to: Handicaps did not go down much (like 0.14 on average IIRC?) when we went from 10/20*0.96 to 8/20. And a good chunk of that was from the +s.
    • I think he meant in the UK. The old system was completely different from the new one. 10/20 x 0.96 vs 8/20 would really only impact very low handicaps I think. The 0.96 serves to increase differentials for plus differentials, where 8/20 vs 10/20 works to lower differentials for all. I don't know many plus golfers who would be upset that their index got lower. A lot of really good players don't even really keep their handicaps up-to-date. They're much more interested in their WAGR rankings which get them entries to certain events.
    • Day 433 - 2025-12-07 Got some work in after Junior Elite before a night of sports (and the return of my wife!). Backswing work. Similar to what a lot of my juniors are doing.
