Okay, I'm back into this.

I've actually been practicing pretty regularly. But I haven't been posting regularly. That should change now.

So Day 1: 8/21/2023

Today I got into the garage net and did some block practice focusing entirely on my priority piece with a 5 iron. The swing feels pretty good. I'm going to have to get some video soon and send it to Yoda.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Day 64: Aug 21

Played 9 holes. Wasn’t really keeping score; at least part of the reason for playing was to go hit my new driver. The big takeaway was “rhythm”, something I’ve found myself thinking of before when wrestling my 3-wood into a consistent state. When I got that right…..lovely looking drives. Lots of wayward drives as well! But still lots of fun.

Approach play & short game were generally good. Always room to improve but lots of positives.

Day 294, August 21, 2023

Worked before lessons today. Was going to play, but didn't even try to get a tee time as I waited too long on Sunday. Did a LOT of work in the garage. It's done now, for the most part.

Day 6:

Sunday's post was mis-numbered as day 4.

Did some setup and backswing practice, and then worked on priority piece for downswing - drop hands, rotate, and don't stall. Still figuring out feels. The drop and torso rotation feels seem to change daily with varying success, but I have something that worked pretty good this evening.

Day 65: Aug 22

Played a practice round. Went round in bogey golf (ish) - as before, the goal was to hit lots of driver shots and gain confidence. Didn’t hold out a number of holes, but my short game/lag putts were setting up ~4ft putts to finish on a regular basis. But bogey golf is now my minimum target every round.

really need to refine my distance control with finesse wedges. In practice it’s consistent, but in play….I tend to be long. Something to discuss with my coach next lesson.

Day 2: 8/22/2023

So today I got myself to the outdoor range. I spent a great deal of time working on my priority pieces switching between a 9 iron and a 5 iron. But with complete (or as complete as I can muster) focus on my priority piece.

Then I spent about 15 balls hitting driver. There was a pretty stiff left to right breeze at the range, so I used that opportunity to try to hit draws that held their line against the wind. I over-drew a few of them, but for the most part that went well.

Lastly I used about 15 balls to just try to hit relatively random targets with wedges from 35 to 110 yards. I'm definitely getting better at my wedge distance control. I still like to bring the trajectory down a bit.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Day 295, August 22, 2023

Played 18 holes. Hit some successful shots, but many not so great ones. Then, in the afternoon, went to the range at Lawrence Park and hit a LOT more good shots with the right feels. Feeling okay.

Day 36: range night. Hit 40 balls of random practice. Generally good, although a little too much right with longer clubs. Then went and putted for about 40 minutes. Worked on lag putting for a bit and then went and tortured myself with the pullback drill.

Day 3: 8/23/2023

I played 18 today. I played alone on a course called Snow Hill. Never played there before. Started out like a house on fire. 3 GIR's on the first 3 holes. On hole 3 I three-putted from about 6 feet, which put a damper on things.

The front 9 was sold, nothing spectacular but made a 42 on a course I've never played before. Made a bogie on 10 and then an 8 on hole 11. Four-putted the GIR I made on hole 12.... then I just couldn't seem to get it back on track. Ended up going 42-51 for a disappointing 93.
