Prior to today, we censored only a few words here at TST. This was the complete list of censored words:

  • w-hore
  • s-lut
  • p-ussy
  • f-uck
  • c-unt

We almost never see any of the words on that list except the one that starts with an "f", so as of today, I've removed the others.

This site is populated by adults, and as such, I suspect few have a problem with an occasional curse word by other people. You're still all free, of course, to curse or not at your own discretion, but I would ask this: if you're going to use a curse word, just use it.

Rory. He has youth and time on his side. However, if Tiger were to win even just the one tournament then it's kind of like the fairytale ending to a bit of a s*ite period in his career.

I can see him playing limited schedules till he hits the big 50 then he'll destroy the field on the seniors tour :-D

I'm only picking on new Forum Leader @RussUK because I don't think he'll mind… but man up! We all know you wanted to type "shite" so just f***ing type it. Be an adult. You're allowed to curse if you want, and putting an asterisk in there doesn't do anything to reduce it. It just makes you look a teeny bit like a weenie. :-) Like you're not actually swearing and so your mommy can't yell at you by sliding by on a weird technicality.

Just type out the f***ing word! :-) It's okay! We get it! You wanted to type "shite!"

This goes for other words, too, like shit, ass, etc. (ass has never been censored because it's part of too many other words, and there's no point in doing it strictly as I'd have to list ass, asshat, asshole, jackass, and every other variation).

We don't censor much here. The list was only ever as long as above, and now it's just one entry long: the word "f u c k" is replaced by "f***" whether you type f*** or f***er or motherf***ing.

As always, if you have an opinion here. I'd welcome hearing it.

P.S. I could see a case for just removing "f***" from the list of word filters, too, but… occasionally a kid will see the site, and that is one of the last words. You can say "ass" on primetime TV, but "f***" is still banned. We don't say the c-word very much, or any of the other words you can't say on TV, but "f***" is occasionally used. So for now it remains on the word filter.

Well, it’s god damn time a public forum website became enlightened. Congratulations! Just to be clear though, not that I ever would, but if someone wants to use the “f” word does it automatically get edited with * or is it up to the moderator?

It’s funny. One of my other nutty hobbies is O-Gauge model railroading and the old guys on that forum are so prissy, you can’t even type “#%*!@#” or else you get a scolding and the post is deleted.

f*** the f***ing motherf***ers. <------ Happens automatically.

Words go through the word filter before they're stored in the database.

I have always typed the word "f***" out of sheer laziness TBH. It's so much easier than typing "f-word" or some combination of f and ascii symbols.

I had never used the f-bomb on site (really no need) until the other day (You can clearly hear Justin Thomas say it after winning the Honda) and didn't even know that there was a filter.

Thanks @iacas, dont mind one bit. Good to know we have the programming on this site to censor for us. I'll have to check its works

Well f*** me sideways it does! :-D

Funny - I would have "uncensored" f*** before any of the others (they all seem more offensive to me, maybe just because when you hear them in real life they're personal attacks).

We almost never see the others typed.

Otherwise I'd have just used the list from George Carlin. Except, seriously, nobody ever really types out "c---" on the forum. :-P

That's only because you're dealing with a bunch of Sheldon Coopers! I used to frequent an archery website that would warn you if you used the phrase H-E-double hockey sticks!

Totally agree, iacas. We're all adults here. And while I try not to use needless profanity, there are times when it just fits!

    • Day 153: putted for a while using the 2 cups drill inside. Working on bead primarily. Contact was really good.
    • Day 8: 12/17/2024 Okay I took my new PPJ swing thought to the range today. I wasn't sure I was quite ready to do so, but I'm glad I did.  When I got it right it was good... really good. When I got it wrong it was a major fail. I hit lots of really ugly ones. But I didn't let that deter me. I stayed committed and focused on the PPJ and I avoided any temptation to go back to what I was doing before just so that I could "look" better at the range. I'm pretty excited about what I saw when I got it right.  I hit the 6 iron mostly (nearly all block work today). I also hit about 6 balls each with the PW, 8I, 5W and Driver. Those had varying degrees of success. I did crack one drive that let me feel and see what the changes will look like once I get fully trained.  Anyway, I'm going to go back to the mirror work for a couple of more days before bringing it back to the range. I do feel like if I can get this right my swing will improve a lot. So I think its worth the effort. I liked the way it looked on GEARs when I get it right, and I like the results I got at the range when I got it right. Now the goal is to work towards getting it right more often.
    • So I think it's that they can't just bend the shaft or hosel to get it to a new lie angle. They adjust that and it changes the weighting, so they have to then adjust all the weights to get it balanced again. I get the impression that it's a bit of an iterative process and they do it all in the US, so they're paying US labor costs to build it and make it work how it's supposed to. Whether you believe in the tech or not, I think that's a true statement.
    • Ah, the old EE in the backswing move. Chest going back and staying down doesn't help.
