So, I was speaking with @iacas and I asked if there would be a meetup in Erie this year and he said he has done the one in Columbus Ohio but that he may be able to attend one in the Rochester area.

I may be driving out west and he reminded me that I could create a post to gauge interest in whether or not people in the area would be interested in meeting up for a round of golf.

So, anyone in the Central/Western NY interested in potentially getting together for a round of golf?

  • iacas changed the title to Rochester New York golf Outing Summer 2018?

I'd be down with that.  Scheduling may be a little tricky though, the wife and I haven't figured out our summer travel plans yet and I'm already in the doghouse for committing to a charity thing without mentioning it to her.

Doghouse? You're in that?

Matt is a little closer to the Rochester area than I, but only by 15 or 18 minutes... Hell I'll TCAT with my clubs out to him and throw him some gas money to carpool... Though I could drive. But like Matt it would depend on when it is... If I can get my work schedule switched, etc... I'd be interested though.

I'm resuming my 50 state capital city trip in June 2018. I'll keep an eye on this and if it takes place I'll try to make it. I'm doing 23 states east of the Mississippi this year. I don't have firm dates at this time but I know I'll start in June. I'll do Salt Lake City and Cheyenne first, then I'm heading east.

  • 2 weeks later...

As a heads up, the weekends of July 13th and 20th are impossible for me.

How's your tour going.

Tomorrow is August, anyone still interested in this?

We have the clubs feature you should take a look at; they replace the old groups we used to have. You can post discussions about possible outings and stuff there.

You can probably start one for NY and whatever.

1. We have an Upstate NY group.

2. What's the point of a sub-forrum called "Member Outings and Meetups" if not to discuss meeting up and having an outing?

@RFKFREAK my summer has been really chaotic (in a good way, but still very crazy) and I don't think I can do a golf trip to Rochester this month.  I need to recover from my June and July.

Member outings and meet ups are best discussed here in the forum. More people see it.

Clubs are for other types of discussions. Small groups. Finding new courses. General regional chit chat.

Ahhh, it worked out pretty good anyway. There's always next time.

I've had enough driving though this summer already. No more trips for me. Unless teleportation is invented. 🙂

At the northern end of where Queens and Long Island shalleth meet. A quick bike ride away from the Douglaston LIRR stop.

    • Day 161 - 2025-03-10 Got a decent, long session in. Focused mostly on the backswing feels, and moved on toward the end of the four hours (not all hitting balls, I installed a motion sensing light switch in there too, and worked with a student over FaceTime for a bit) on the downswing feel.
    • Day 31: 3/10/25 Backswing drills with the ProSendr. Reinforcing iron play from yesterday.
    • I wrote up a response as a YouTube comment that I won't be posting on YouTube. What an absolute load of garbage. Your arm doesn't "slingshot" or "bounce" - you use the muscles in your arm to move your arm and throw the baseball. In one video you've managed to get roughly five areas of science almost completely backward. At best, your video sets up a straw man as nobody is telling golfers to do anything like what you show when you're demonstrating a "bad tennis player." The golfers you see on your lesson tee must be from a completely different world than almost anyone else on Earth, because most golfers do something more like what you prefer to teach - their arms are too passive for too long, they stay "up" too long, and are carried out toward the ball from the top. From there, they stall their pivot, often early extending while right tilting to TRY to not swing 15° left. You know… we have ways of measuring these things these days, but you're still stuck with a poor understanding of how the golf swing works and are peddling it to some unsuspecting and unfortunate souls. But, I know… you teach "athletes." I hope for your sake that's just code for "dumb" because anyone with even a room temperature IQ understands that there's nothing truly "effortless" about the golf swing. I also sent a tweet: https://x.com/iacas/status/1899237716316844217
    • Hmmm.... That's pretty good. Very clever, young man.
    • Plus, if ALL of your irons are guaranteed to go the right distance but just 15 within a 15 yard right or left window… you can lay way back off the tee, find way more fairways, and still shoot good scores. No need to hit driver to get into 9I range if a 4I (which will find the fairway every time if it's 30 yards wide or wider) and hit a 5I to the green. Easy!
