Ugh:

I posted this in the other topic, but… if you don't know the rules, shut the heck up. The ball is holed as soon as it goes in the hole and beneath the level of the lip and comes to rest.

They don't rip the flagstick out because it's a hack, amateur thing to do that risks pulling the whole cup out and damaging the cup, the lip, the hole, or whatever.

Ugh.

The other incident was today, too:

C'mon guys. If you don't know the answer, don't talk.

Craig was gently corrected a few minutes later.

Well, he wasn't "corrected" per se, he was told you could take the cup liner out or damage the hole by the other announcer. He was never told he was wrong and that the ball was holed.

Today Craig Perks keeps saying that putts are rolling uphill because of the effect of the mountains in Utah.

Damn! If mountains in Utah are affecting my putts, I have no idea where to hit them!

I live in NE Ohio!

Believe me, I have enough trouble as it is!

      Something just popped into my head, based on your mention of the folks who "know the rules" but are generally wrong.  Another comment I read was "the Rules ALWAYS said.....".  When I come across those I often go to  www.ruleshistory.com to see if the rules ever said that.  You can find every (almost?) version of the rules since the first set in 1744.  Its fun to return to the conversation and say "You're a little bit right, the rules said that at one time, but that changed in 1984.  You've been playing under the wrong rule for 40 years!"
