Broke my shaft in my Cobra Ltd Pro....what makes sense to do with it.

  1. 1. What should I consider for this situation?

    • Sell the head outright without a shaft.
      1
    • Put a cheap shaft in it and sell it.

    • Get a fit with a newer driver and impliment that shaft until the one I am think of buying becomes available.

Opinions needed... I broke the shaft on my Cobra Ltd Pro and I am at a dilemma on what to do with it. I was almost to the point of getting a replacement for it but I don't believe the Titleist Ts3 will be available in my price range for a while. I am not sure if it is worth investing in a new shaft or sell the head alone. I don't really want to spend 3 bills on a shaft replacement either. The used market has stunk on ebay lately too. I am leaning toward just getting a reasonably decent shaft at Rock Bottom or Global... What say you?

That's a fairly new driver...I'd stick with it.  Find a shaft with the tip on it already or if u do the work yourself, take the old adapter off and put it on another shaft.

Try places like Global Golf and Second Swing.

What kind of shaft was it? Id guess you'd be able to get an entire new club for less than $200. That driver model has been around for awhile now, no?

The Aldila Rogue Black, it is about 2 years old

I've been shopping them but nothing has been right yet. I am working on getting the tip cleaned out so I could possibly use it. Stupid tips are 25 bux...

Buy an old driver with a shaft you like for 30-50 bucks and steal the shaft. I think shaft technology has stalled for a while so you should be able to find a decent one.

For me, if I like the head (you sound like you like yours) l would keep it after.

I considered that but not sure if that is the answer. I found the same shaft on the bay for an okay not great price and would seem a better choice if I reshaft it.

@Valleygolfer,

Put a hickory shaft in it! 😛

Or, you can get a new Aldila Black here. They can prep it for you too.

Change shaft,  depending on how much you like the head.

What's your preferred weight and flex -  mid launch/mid spin? I've got several driver shafts sitting around - Tensei Blue 50 R and S, Isawa Red 55 S, VA Slay 55 R  But they have Callaway tips - they're easy to replace.

I try to get as low of launch as possible. The rogue was xs... which felt good. Stiff shaft is probably a minimum.

I'm a fan of the Proforce V2, it's nice and tip stiff as well as not ridiculously expensive.

Check with outfits like GolfWorks, Grips 4 less. You do not have to spen 3 bills for a new shaft. companies. Right now you can get an Aldila NV or NVs, or similar shaft for about $45. Of course, if you were thinking about getting a new driver anyway, now is the perfect opportunity. Look at places like 'Global Golf. There are plenty of good used drivers available at reasonable prices.
