  1. Maybe someday, the issues could be tough to deal with, but I think any tech that promotes walking instead of carts is a good thing, carts just amplify or even create pace issues.
  2. I agree, I live down the road from Bethpage and the Black course is always empty, you can walk on most days without a wait, so booking a time there the day before should be fine. You may not get an early morning tee because that seems to be the busiest at Black, but around noon should be wide open. I have no idea why the automated system isn't working though, can't help there.
  3. I don't like Elk's comment, and I don't like Rory's retort, he could have taken the high road but flexed his wallet instead, not my kind of comment, and I usually like what Rory has to say. It's never been easy to win on the tour, splitting hairs IMO, just because guys look better today doesn't mean they're better golfers, it just means they spend more time in the gym.
  4. I'm nearby and have yet to play there, it's certainly not about politics, would love to go but the price is just too much, it's a top course so the cost is justified but can't do it, maybe for a special day.
  5. Considering what we know now, I'm thinking the police officer who arrested him could have been a bit more compassionate about the situation after he knew Tiger was not drinking, and probably knowing this was caused by medication for surgery, maybe an arrest was not the right thing to do here, just my opinion.
  6. I'm glad I'm not one of those that skewered the guy the moment this story came out, I admit I first thought he was partying as well, but at least I didn't run to the boards to announce my distaste, because those people look like idiots right now. The guy made a mistake yes, but taking meds for a major surgery and having an issue at the wheel is a very different animal than drinking. I have sympathy for the guy and am glad he's OK, and throwing hate at Tiger right now is pretty low IMO.
  7. Obviously using carts correctly is a big factor, but I still think the mix causes a pace problem even with riding groups doing it right. I bet if a busy course went walking only the pace issues would almost evaporate, but I could be wrong.
  8. Of course it is, but I don't think any solution ever offered really works. The big problem is the mix of walkers and carts (buggies), the mix of player levels, and the mix of player speeds. Some like to play very fast these days, which is a new trend IMO and causing some of the complaints.
  9. I can watch her all day, what a woman.
  10. No problem here, he can wear shorts and a mesh shirt for all I care.
  11. Agreed, it's not a buddy trip with women, I'm not saying don't do it because I'm sure you'll have fun either way, but to make it all about golf (and booze) as it should be it's wise to leave the ladies home, then you can play 2 rounds a day if you want and not worry about her. I bet if you ask the other guys how they feel about bringing the women they may smile and say sure! but inside they're dying, it's just not the way to do a golf trip.
  12. Walking it all of course, barring those tracks that cannot be walked, but that's irrelevant for this discussion. I play better walking, golf is a game that requires strong legs and walking gets them going, activates the glutes. On a side note I think slow play can be easily fixed by getting rid of carts (buggies), the mixing of walkers and carts is probably the #1 reason for pace issues.
  13. I think his competition concerns are far more physical than mental, and always have been. But I don't really care if the guy isn't a top player ever again, not sure why this point is always being argued, why is it such a big deal? how about we just see the guy on tour and making a few leaderboards here and there, that's enough for me. I just want to see Tiger be part of the game like he should be.
  14. Agreed, I never talk about ready golf with strangers, it's a given. Don't worry about your level of play and pace, one should generally not have anything to do with the other, even the worst players can move along just fine with some simple tips.
  15. He's only 41, unless he quits his body should heal well enough to play golf long before he's looking at the Champions tour, golf is not that hard on the body, even the back, so all a person needs to be is pain free and I think Tiger can get there. Is this a concern? of course, but as gruesome as it looks the other back surgeries he's had may have been bigger concerns, and he worked his way back from them.
  16. It's cheating, she knows what she was doing and for whatever reason she wanted to move the ball over an inch on occasion. She'll stop doing it now though, I bet most players on all the tours will no longer play the ball mark game.
  17. Wow, that looks more brutal than the other back surgeries he's had.
  18. Many have been using other sports as a comparison, and it makes no sense to me, I guess these people aren't really familiar with golf? it's the only explanation. Golf doesn't have officials watching every play for every player, they can't, so they must rely on the players to do it themselves, this is a fundamental difference from other sports. And because of this the scorecard rule is very, very important, because of how easy it would be to cheat, that's why signing an incorrect card carries a very heavy penalty along with the infraction, this rule should never change and it won't.
  19. There's nothing wrong with a beat up wedge, plenty of good ones on eBay cheap, as long as the grooves are good the club is just fine and it takes a lot to hurt the grooves on a wedge, people with money don't like to see scratches so they sell them quick for a shiny new one, total waste IMO. Also you should ask your Pro about bounce, if your 60 is low you may want a high bounce 54, lots of bounce works well in fluffy sand and deep rough.
  20. I don't think betting has one ounce of influence on anything about this ruling, or the call-ins, it's irrelevant, people are just making stuff up to support their misguided opinion. But I am getting a kick out of all the uproar over this, and the fact that they will probably never stop the call ins, because they have no reason to. People really thought they would stop them after this, not I.
  21. They want the money, and it's a BS move, just charge more for the green fees and let people walk, golf is a game best played that way, it's more enjoyable, don't take that away from players.
  22. "The Lexi Thompson Rule" I'm not sure you want to remembered for this Lexi, you did after all break the rules and didn't police yourself like you should have, there may be support for you out there but there is also plenty of criticism.
  23. The thing that stands out to me when watching Bryson is the chipping and pitching, and I think this is where single length fails. Sure it's great to have a shorter length long iron, but a longer wedge? a longer 9? that only makes the short game harder and Bryson has showed us this with some questionable chipping. But I always fall back to my first impression of this gimmick- when it comes to golf better tools always rise to the top, like the hybrid club, and if single length really were a better wrench we would see it a lot on tour, because better golf = more money, but we haven't.
  24. I'm not offended for his caddie, I'm not offended at all, it's just not that big of a deal, but it is kind of a bush league move, there are better ways to show emotion out there.
  25. I'm the opposite, can't hit a hybrid to save my life despite tons of practice with various models, but I can pure a 4i fairly easily. I have no idea why some can hit this or that club, and some can't, it's a strange thing for sure.
