  1. J B Holmes should suffer a penalty for his slow play. If he doesn't where is the PGA tour going to enforce any rules.
  2. Loose head or bad shaft?
  3. I wouldn't put Phil on the team because his putting is in poor shape. I watch enough golf on the tele to know that there are better choices available.
  4. I watched some of the Champions Tour final on 8/27 and I think most of the people using a long putter are anchoring. Can't believe that it goes unquestioned by the PGA with some of the after the fact rulings they have made on other tours.
  5. Hey people, I'm a big fan of Phil. I still don't think that he is a top notch putter at this time in his career. I'm not sure he has ever been a top putter such as Tiger, Jack or Jordan. This is only my opinion so it is not written in stone that I'm correct. I will also add that Phil is not even close to competing at the level that he expects from himself. Therefore changes have to be made. Kudos to Phil for attending his daughters valedictorian address from high school graduation. For his daughter at this time in her life, it was a lifetime achievement award. Phil recognized what is most important in his life and responded. I'm quite sure he is far ahead of me in sound lifetime decisions.
  6. Bones had double knee replacement in October/2016. Phil is not playing well and he still can't putt at the correct speed required for the professional courses. It is routine for Phil to putt it six feet past the hole on a ten foot putt. Phil doesn't care what I think and I love the guy. Putting is the name of the game at the professional level.
  7. On a serious note, genetics is a major determining factor in whether or not one could play at the professional level. I believe that there are certain skills required for golf that are unique to golf. Also money plays a big role in the development of a pro golfer.
  8. I thought about becoming a pro golfer, but weighed by likes and dislikes. Reason I didn't pursue pro golf was because I think flying standby somewhere every Friday night after the cut would suck.
  9. It is not possible to determine that she move her ball 0.7" from that video. It is speculation. Did they review every player, every time. If not then the rules are being administered unfairly. I am tired of television replays putting the game in jeopardy.
  10. I have watched the video and agree that it appears that she did not remark her ball exactly, but the video is inconclusive. That argument could be made by just about anybody. It was another screw up by the powers that be. Did the rules committee review every contestant every time they put their ball back in play. I say it was a bad call by the rules committee and distracts from the game.
  11. I have watched the video and it is inconclusive. I think she did not exactly remark her ball, but the video is inconclusive and thus the penalty was in error.
  12. I think what was done to Lexi is a crock of shit. She did not gain a competitive advantage and to me it is inconclusive that she improperly spotted her ball. I wouldn't have a problem with a ruling that is made in a timely manner. We do have one genius on here that is the rules expert. The ruling against Tiger was made in a timely manner and did not deter from the integrity of the game.
  13. Did go get a mini lesson for free. We talked about three things. Adding the sensation of a pause at the top. Don't swing from outside in. Get a more of an inside to out swing. Take a little more time. Stand behind the ball and get a visualization of the swing and getting a positive result. I now visualize my swing as just like Fred Couples. (apologies to Fred)
  14. Thx for the feedback. I will work on getting a video posted when I get out to the golf course again
  15. When I play well, I feel that my tempo is spot on. When not playing well, I feel as if the transition from the backswing to the downswing is hurried. It feels as if I am quick to open my hips and shoulders to the left of the target line. I don't want to get to complex in my description, but if there is an instructional video of the swing that could explain and give me a good visual of the transition period of the golf swing, I would appreciate it much.
  16. My favorite is DJ. Probably because he won yesterday. Also because he has it all, except for the short putt. DJ has had so much self inflicted tragedy on the golf course, he deserves our support. I hope all of them have great careers. I would like to see Phil win the US open to complete the grand slam. I would also like to see some Europeans win a major. Those would be Ian Poulter, Sergio Garcia, and Lee Westwood.
  17. I gotta say that I can't comprehend how he is going to control distance on his irons with all the same shaft lengths. Just seems like the club head speed with the scoring clubs will always be the same. I don't necessarily see the advantage of a side saddle putter. I think he is looking to be a ground breaking golfer in club development, but it ain't gonna happen. For me the putting stroke is the easiest of all the strokes in golf, yet its pure simplicity makes it the most frustrating.
  18. I think there are pros and cons to using a rangefinder on the tour. I tend to think that the pace of play on the pro tour is determined by the minority, not the majority. Personal experience is that slow players never speed up, yet faster players will speed up to compensate for slower players in the group. I wish we could get to the point in golf that it was appropriate to tell a slow player to hit the ****ing ball, we ain't got all day.
  19. I say the tree is good where it is at. Kind of interesting.
  20. I like the character of the tree. It would be helpful to know the location of the tree in relationship to the intended path of play.
  21. Did they not have people attend to the bunkers at the Open either this year or last year. Hell, if I played at some these courses on a bad swing day, my caddie could end up a couple holes behind just raking the carnage that I had caused.
  22. Don't take this as fact, but if the caddy is stepping off yardage, the pro is not on the clock as far as his allotted time to execute his shot. This came into question a few years ago at the Masters when a teenager playing in the Masters was assessed a penalty for slow play. Certainly some on here are more knowledgable, but this is what I recall is an advantage of a caddie stepping off yardage.
  23. I always rake a bunker that I've been in. However, I'm not all that great at raking and manicuring a bunker, so just don't hit one that I've been in. I would guesstimate that the bunker that I rake is just as good when I leave as it was when I got there. Here in the Texas Panhandle there is not going to be a lot of sand in the bunker due to our winds and dry climate along with lack of revenue. Golf appears to be a dying sport here. Can't get the kids of their machines.
  24. Love to watch this tournament. Number 10 and 18 are especially fun to watch
