Coca-Cola put the shine back on my Irons.

I heard that coca-cola puts a shine on chrome so I decided to try it on my irons, what's the worst that could happen?

I put a small bit of it on a towel and it worked great! They look nearly as shiny as when they were new!

Honestly if there's anybody reading this with worn clubs try it.

My Clubs
Driver - LV4 10* R flex
Wood - sam snead persimmon 2 wood (for windy days)

Well, you could strip the finish off the clubs, that's the worst that could happen. I guess with an old club, though, why not.

Honestly if there's anybody reading this with worn clubs try it.

Well, you could strip the finish off the clubs, that's the worst that could happen. I guess with an old club, though, why not. :-....

When I was in first grade - back when woods had persimmon heads and golf carts did not exist - we used to go to church picnics in St. Louis. Several of the men in the parish worked for the Coca-Cola bottling plant, so we got free soda.

But , children under age of 12 were not allowed to drink Coke because of the "stuff inside." (My first encounter with age discrimination.) Urban legend has it that the bottling workers took Coke syrup - before sugar was added - and used it to clean the machines between shifts. I guess you shouldn't leave your clubs in Coke overnight, or you might end up with a C2 swingweight.

When I played with my dad's old ping eye 2 beryllium copper irons that's what I used to clean them. I would let them soak in a pale with a two liter and they came out looking like new. I never knew you could do the same with non copper clubs.

I wouldn't leave them overnight in coke, could end up with no club left!

Just a quick clean seems to work perfect.

If your talking to DR_FU I doubt it it'd be full of copper and dirt.

And if your talking to me, I only put it on a towel so no.

Dude, it's carbonated phosphoric acid - of course it cleans off the rust. It does a damned fine job stripping the enamel off human teeth too. The caustic version (high pH) is better known as TSP (trisodium phosphate) - it's used to prep walls before painting.

I used store-brand Coke to clean up some old Ben Hogan irons I got for super cheap. It did a fair job, maybe real Coke would've done better.

I have heard cops keep bottles of Coke in their squad cars to rinse blood off of the road after a car accident or some such. That sounds like an urban myth, but I don't know for sure either way.

They had this on Mythbusters. They used Coke to clean a chrome car bumper, and found it did exceptionally well when it was scrubbed with coke and aluminum foil. Don't ask me what the aluminum foil does when mixed with the Coke, but it did a great job on the chrome bumper, so I'd assume it would work great on golf clubs as well.

Not hardly......it has a mild acidity but it will not eat metel. I've soaked clubs overnite with no problems at all.

They're not chrome they're stainless so it probably would have done the same with soap and water, just saying.
