I am not predicting it will happen, but what if Tiger does a Duval, and only gets worse? Would it how much interest would fans and media still have in Tiger?

well I think this whole season is definitly going to effect him the rest of his life but Duval had injuries that he ingnored which caused his demise. Tigers life is just a mess, I think he will still win. Give him a few years, I mean come on, he was going to sex rehab!!

I can't imagine it will happen, but who thought after the 2001 British Open that Duval wouldn't rack up a half dozen top-10s (at least) the next year? Or that he'd fall to 884 at some point?

I think it's less likely due to the sheer dominance he displayed and the length of time he maintained it.

However, beyond the personal problems, he did have pretty major surgery that is going to mess with his swing. On the one hand, that could be part of the reason it's taking so long to bounce back, but it is the kind of thing that could do irreversible harm...

My gut tells me he'll come back. Never with as much dominance as he had, but he'll get back to winning regularly. Remember that he's not been doing all that badly, he's still in the hunt more often than not, so it's not like he's missing cuts regularly. It's a bit too early to draw any conclusions.

I think some of the haters are starting to feel for the guy now.

Oh, I think you're wrong there. If Tiger threw himself in front of a speeding bus to push a young mother and baby out of harm's way, some folks here would be posting in his memorial thread that the sonofabitch was probably just trying to get her phone number.

To be honest, I think this has been one of the most interesting seasons in recent history with Tiger playing badly. Media coverage, while still Tiger biased has had to look at other players that are playing great right now. We've seen some incredible scoring (albeit, maybe on easier course setups), and there's no clear favorite for every tournament. While I'm not a Tiger hater, I always want to see the little guy win out of nowhere, and we've seen that this year more than in the past.

What I find funny, is that watching the Golf Channel, some idiot always still picks Tiger to win every tournament he enters, when we have to be realistic, it's going to take a while if we ever see him back in form.

I was starting to think that he really likes the shade under those trees as Firestone. He is surprisingly off, and I am not sure when he will get it back. This type of performance has to be trying his confidence which is something he has never experienced. When you lose the mental edge, it is harder than the physical aspect. Hogan got hit by a bus and still walked 36 the last day to win the US Open. Are Tiger's "sexcapades" and public outing his bus accident? Yesterday was really hard to watch, but like a train wreck, we all watched as the Golf Channel milked it for all it was worth.

In his own words, if he ever stopped winning regularly on tour, he'd quit playing.

He needs a coach fast! He needs to be told what is wrong with his swing! It's frustrating that he thinks he can get through this dip in form by himself.

hmmm, if you want a far fetched conspiracy, maybe Tiger is sandbagging right now. I think that the PR would have been pretty bad if he came back from his "issue" playing great.

If he plays the "broken man" for a while it would be good for his image.

Its not looking good right now, but lets not have a bunch of knee jerk reactions based on one bad round. What if he goes out and shoots 66 today?

His swing doesn't look bad. He misses when his tempo gets too fast. Just like most of us.

I watched him in person on the range at the memorial. He was just throwing darts, he didn't miss a shot. He just can't take that guy to the course for whatever reason. He just losses that rhythm on the course.

He will be back. But seriously, can Phil or someone take number one please. This is getting stupid.

If Tiger never gets his form back, his career will mirror Tom Watson's. Tom only won on tour three times after turning 35, but he still collected top-ten finishes with regularity well into his 40s.

Tiger said himself he is nailing it on the range, and he recently shot a 61.....it's when he's on the course with the crowds, cameras etc he is falling apart.

The pressure of thousands of accusing eyes and all that?Could well be it.

I don't think a swing coach is that big a deal for someone like Tiger. He knows Golf, he knows his swing. It's just a matter of executing under pressure.Might get that back, might not.
A great shot is when you go for it and pull it off. A smart shot is when you don't have the guts to try it. ~ Phil Mickelson.

In that case I've been nailing it at the range (easily 450-500) and I shot a 61 yesterday.

I'll believe it when I see it :)

    • Day  3 (4 May 24) - Easy pitch day with 9i in the backyard.  Worked on staying smooth thru impact, keeping shots to 20yds or less.
    • From what I’ve read, it was in the manufacturing process and how the covers were nicking pretty easy.  He has had to resource his factory as the one used earlier is now a TM owned facility.  Initial reports seem to indicate the redesign is going to be a winner…
    • Day 129: 5/4/24 Stack training but could not certify my warmup speed. Dealing with a pulled neck muscle. Chips and pitches at a local course for about 15 minutes.
    • Typically less than 50. I find this can be affected by the "CART" signs on a given course. I don't like taking my rangefinder out of the cart and carrying it around to the green. I am very fearful I will leave it somewhere.
    • First ever holed out greenside bunker shot! It's crazy it took this long to finally get one during a round, but the cold streak is officially over. Hole 6 on the Palmer Course at PGAN. I hit my driver like 225 into a really stiff wind, then worm burned a hybrid into the bunker. I was about I dunno, 40-45 feet away. Birdie! Let's go! The red Xs the approximate location of each shot.  Really fun!!
