If you could pick and disregard transportation/corporate/spectator logistics and go on golf course quality alone, what courses would you pick for the PGA and US Open?

Which course in the current rota would you keep, throw out?

Which would you add in?

The US Open should be held at Pine Valley. That course set up for a US Open would be a bloodbath...lol

You know what, I would, just once, like to see the PGA rip it up at a local Muni. Somewhere that costs about 20 bucks to play and has a course rating of no more than 68. Maybe a 9 hole track where they play each hole twice. I want to see somebody shoot a 45.

the us open should be held at a nice little course here in dallas called ''dallas national.'' 7370 yards with a slope of 145, and those are the membership tips. add the texas heat, and trust me, this course is demoralizing. i think the pga should be played at my home course, cedar crest, in dallas. it's not too terribly long at the moment, but it can be easily lengthened, fairways tightened, and greens rolled quick. it has played host to the pga in '27 and was designed by aw tillinghast.

I'd like to see Bandon Dunes/Pacific Dunes. PB isn't the only course with great oceanside views.

Someone needs to design a course with holes from previous US Open and PGA courses like you can do in the Tiger Woods video game, for instance create the 17th hole, create the par 3 from Pebble Beach, and 18 would be number 18 from Whistling Straits.....this course would have a wide variety of style and design and would be a lot of fun to see.

For the US Open I prefer more old-school courses like Oakland Hills, Southern Hills, Pinehurst, and even Pebble beach - course with good tradition.

we have courses in dallas and houston called ''tour 18.'' it's got many famous holes from different courses like amen corner at augusta, some holes from winged foot, shinnecock, oakmont, doral, pinehurst, etc. if you ever get a chance to go, do it.

Pinehurst, Brookline, Cog Hill Dubsdread (I know it's used for the BMW but I think it could be made quite challenging!), Pebble Beach, Torrey Pines, that course just outside Newport, RI (Carnegie?) that I saw on Shell's Wonderful World of Golf the other day; Oakmont. And that invitaton-only course in Florida that even Tiger hasn't played on.

A thought occurs - Kapalua, Maui. The 663-yard 18th is a cracking risk/reward (aka death or glory!) hole.

Shame there are no James Braid courses in the US.

I'd like to see one of those come to Pete Dye's River Course in Radford. Definitely long enough!! You all know how tough a Pete Dye course is!!

I think Kiawah Island and Sea Island would both make great PGA/US Open venues. Another one would be The International in Bolton, MA. From the "Tiger" tees, it's 8,325 yards, has a course rating of 80, a slope rating of 154, a par of 73, and even has a par 6. Under US Open conditions that would be an absolute killer! I also want to second Chilli Dipper's list, but I would add in Winged Foot.

In my bag:

Driver: Titleist TSi3 | 15º 3-Wood: Ping G410 | 17º 2-Hybrid: Ping G410 | 19º 3-Iron: TaylorMade GAPR Lo |4-PW Irons: Nike VR Pro Combo | 54º SW, 60º LW: Titleist Vokey SM8 | Putter: Odyssey Toulon Las Vegas H7

Just so I can see more of the course on TV, I'd vote for Pine Valley, Cypress Point, and Prarie Dunes

It's not necessarily the course they choose, but how they set it up.
I liked Jack's furrowed bunkers at Muirfield a few years back.
No need for crazy rough five feet from the fairway, but punish tee shots that are 15+ yards off the fairway with tall grasses.

I'd divide the country into pods and have them rotate, as to me it seems like if the US Open's not in California, its in either NY, NJ or PA. 6 pods should be enough and 5 to 8 courses per pod.

Pod 1 (Maryland & Northeast)
Oakmont, Baltusrol, Bethpage, Winged Foot, Brookline, Oak Hill, Shinnecock Hills

Pod 2 (OH, IN, MI, WI, MN, IL MO)
Muirfield Village, Oakland Hills, Bellrieve, Hazeltine, Cog Hill, Medinah, Whistling Straits, Crooked Stick

Pod 3 (DC, VA, Carolinas, GA)
Congressional, Greenbriar, Pinehurst, Kiawah, East Lake

Pod 4 (TX, OK, LA MS, AL, FL, AR)
Champions, Southern Hills, Dallas National, Shoal Creek (provided they've fixed their "issues"), Bay Hill?

Pod 5 (NM, AZ, UT, CO, NV, So Cal)
Cherry Hills, Torrey Pines, Riviera, Wynn, Castle Pines, Grayhawk?

Pod 6 (No Cal, WA, OR, ID, MT, WY, Dakotas)
Bandon Dunes, Sahalee, Pebble, Olympic, Chambers Bay, Harding Park

Plenty of courses for both to pick from IMO and a little variety
