I'm starting this thread because I like to brag about mine.

335-yard par 4. I hit my tee shot into a water hazard and took my drop about twenty yards back because that's where the best ground was. I hit a 5-iron to less than two feet and sank the putt.

What's yours?

didn't happen to me, but it happened to my boss. wind was blowing like it usually does in texas in the spring, about 25 mph. he tees up on a par 3 and aims about 30 yards right of the stick. the wind catches it and sends it way left and over the green. he decides to play three from the tee instead of the drop zone(he was pretty pissed off, atm). lines up about 30 yards right of where he aimed before, but no wind. about halfway there a gust comes from nowhere and knocks the ball on the green, two bounces, in the hole.

I was playing matchplay against my 8 handicap friend.

12 hole is a short but tight par 4 with trees down the left hand side and a lake on the right side.
He splits the fairway with a 4w and is left with a SW into the green. I slice a drive into the lake, take my 3rd and hit it next the the green. Then chipped in. He hit his SW to 10 feet and missed the putt. He played brilliantly, I played terrible and we halved the hole.

Shortish par 4 with a fairway that splits in the middle, elected to hit a hybrid off the tee "to be sure", so I of course completely thin it about 120 yards down the left rough. I then proceed to try again, and again top it, pretty bad this time. I'm mad. I compose myself, look around to get a yardage, and decide I'm about 180-185 out. One 4 hybrid later, and I'm standing behind a 12 foot uphill left-to-right putt for par. Made it.

500 yd par 5. I hit my tee shot in the pond to the left. I had to take my drop from about 360 out. Hit a hybrid for #3 to about the 180 mark. #4 was a 4 iron that was hit clean but I pushed it right of the green and right of the greenside bunker. #5 was a half chip/half flop (I call it my flop chip) over the bunker and trickled down right into the cup. I could not believe it.

351 yard par 4. Hit my tee shot down the middle. Second shot I bladed my wedge from 115 out through the green. 3rd shot I used a 60* to try and pitch it up soft and stop but shanked to the right at the base of a tree. 4th shot I pitched up with my 56* and ball hit the stick and went in. A par that shouldn't have been, for sure.

How about the 2 most unlikely birdies I've ever had (if you don't mind)? These two stick out in my mind.

#1 - Playing the 9th hole at Heron Lakes (Great Blue) in January a few years ago. Pull my drive left into some VERY thick rough. I punch out to about 100 yds. The ground is just about frozen and so are the bunkers. I blade a sand wedge that screams along the ground. It goes into the sand trap, up the lip and goes about 20 ft. in the air and lands in the hole on the fly.

#2 - Playing in Bend, OR on Lost Tracks. Dogleg left par 5. I hit a drive that I 'think' is good, around the dog leg, trying to cut the corner. First time playing this course and didn't realize there was a big ravine that is almost impossible to carry. It's marked as a lateral hazard and I take my drop. I'm about 235 yds out with a gap between a couple of hills over the ravine. I'm hitting 3 and I hit my 3-wood to about 4 feet. Make the right to left slider for a sweet birdie. Now I know to play that hole again, just hit a hybrid out to that spot and then go across the ravine, still a short cut, but the short cut is on the second shot.

Maybe not the most unlikely ever but playing the 18th at my club on Friday I hit a drive that got away from me right, it was an afternoon round and the 18th plays straight into the sun in the afternoon so it was one of those shots that you really should find but you don't really see where it went so you might lose it. I found it and was left with a PW to the green, pulled it left but got away with it thanks to a lucky bounce and was only about 3 yards off the green. I bladed my chip and it was racing across the green at a pace that was going to leave me a lot more than 3 yards off the green coming back but struck the flag and left me with a 4 inch tap in.

3 horrible shots and a tap in got me a par which left one of our group needing to knock in a 6 footer to win the day and he left it short, so my unlikely par meant I ended up tying the round even after playing the 18th so poorly that it was a little embarrassing.

par 3 - 154 yards downhill. I hit my tee shot hard right, then hit my 2nd shot into a greenside bunker. A chip from the bunker into the hole gave me my most unlikely par.

Par 3, scorecard listed the hole at 226 yards. My drive was a terrible pull-slice that managed to land just barely in the first cut on the left side of the fairway. I hit a PW somewhat fat and left myself about 15 yards to the pin, about 10 yards off the green. I dropped my PW on the green with a little side-spin and watched it roll forwards and to the side right into the hole. After a terrible drive and a bad approach shot, I was thrilled to still score par.

Par 3 I hit into the bunker. Sailed my 2nd shot into the opposite bunker. Holed 3rd shot. Much more interesting than hitting one 30 ft from pin and 2 putting.

1) I'm playing in a singles match where I get 4 strokes based on our respective handicaps. Fast forward to the 5th hole, a 490 yard par 5 with OB down the left hand side and its our #1 handicap hole, so I get a stroke. On the day of our match the wind was really howling and my gentle fade off the tee turns into a wicked slice. Yikes! I'm OB off the tee. With nothing left to lose, hitting 3 off the tee, I pound one down the middle. My second shot was about 220 into the wind and I hit a 2h about 40 yards right the green and have it curl back towards the pin. I knocked it to 2 feet!! I tap in for a 5 net 4 and win the hole.

2) My most unlikely birdie occurred earlier this year in a round in which I shot 69. On our par 5 11 th hole, there is OB on the left and a strand of trees running the length of the hole on the right hand side. Off the tee, I block my tee shot to the right over the strand of trees and into the adjacent 16th fairway. When I get to my ball, I am totally blocked from hitting back towards the 11th fairway. So, I decide that I will play down the 16th hole to make forward progress. I realize that my approach to the 11th green will have to be from the far right side of the 16th fairway to be able to clear the trees on my next shot. I figured a 6i would give me a good wedge into my green. My target is slightly short and right of the 16th tee box. I really crushed this shot but again, I blocked it to the right! So, now my ball sails 30 yards right of my target and its resting just short of the 2nd green. I'm now 2 fairways over!! I can barely see my green and its about 145 yards away at this point. I hit a 9i into the middle of the green. On in regulation in sink a 40 ft putt for birdie.

Par 5 dogleg right. I normally try to play a slice off the tee to cut the corner, but this day I was not hitting the driver well at all. I hit my 3H of the tee, but pulled it left and it went through the fairway. 2nd was about 6-feet behind a tree with a window to the fairway. Hit my 3H again right into the base of the tree, bouncing it back about 20 feet. 3rd, 3W low stinger with enough draw to go around the tree to about 20 yards from the front edge. Best chip of the day to a back pin. Tap in par.

OR

Par 4, pasted drive right down the gut. Pulled my 52* short and left into green side bunker up against the front lip. Blasted out to the left, away from the pin, and barely onto the green. 37 foot putt with 8 feet of left-to-right break. Stops right on the lip... And falls in as I'm walking over to tap in!

PAR 3 168 yards, hit my shot way right into thick trees.

Find my ball and have no shot at the green so chip it over to the right in the rough, then chip in from around 30 yards.....and if it didn't hit the pin it would of rolled way off the green.

In this last tournament, I was playing the par 3 - 226 yards, the green, in relation with the rough it's elevated, missing the green to the right it's difficult to save par, because there is a tree that doesn't let you hit and elevated shot so it also difficult to leave it close, if you miss to the left you don't have major problem.

So I hit my shot to the right and ended in nasty rough, my ball was sitting was donw in the grass. So I told my caddy this is goign to be tough, there are two options, try to hit it with an 8 iron and see if I can put it on the green, or with my 52. I grabbed the 52 hit as hard as I can and didn't get the ball one the green. But the ball now was sitting better and closer to the green, I took my 60 and chipped in for par haha!

Cheers!

380yard par 4. First shot went right into the next fairway about 200 yards from the box, grabbed my 7w and launched that sucker over some small trees about 30yds from the greens. Overshot the green on my 3rd shot into a bunker behind the green. Couldn't see where the hole was, just the flag and chipped my shot out of the bunker .. rolled down the green into the pin where the guys i was playing with almost shit themselves.
