How often do you see video recorders on the practice range?

You'd think with the cheaper Casios with the high fps feature, there would be more people using them and judging by TST and YouTube videos there are more, but based on my own anecdotal evidence, I still rarely see people video themselves at the range.

Just curious what is everyone else's experience elsewhere.

I own a 60 fps camera that I got from the Callaway promotion but rarely ever use it to record my swing. Haven't been to the golf range in over a month now. Rarely ever see people recording their swings either.

I take my old clunker out maybe 2 or 3 times a year to see if I see any improvement in my swing, but honestly I just feel awkward taping my swing. I think I get the "this guy take's golf waaaay too seriously" look from about everyone except my instructor and my friend who is a range rat :P So far I've only done it once in may, and once a few weeks ago although I only did some down the line and not face on shots, kind of forgot about it and finished my bucket lol. I've never seen another person do it at my home course though.

I have yet to see someone do it. Ten years from now the use will probably be increased.

at first I get "thats pretty hi tech" and I'm just like yea it is. Then those guys continue to hit crappy shots and go over to me and say " you can have the rest" and give me their bucket of balls. Problem is most people don't want to put the effort into correcting their swing, they just want to keep pounding balls in hope of one day it just starts working

I finally got a tripod for my camera (crappy fps and all!) just 2 weeks ago, and I'm the only non-instructor I've ever seen at my range with a camera. I'm SOLD though. I literally don't ever go to the range without it anymore.

Yeah, that about sums it up right there. You can't get better if you don't know what you're doing, well, you can, but it's hard. With my camera, I can instantly spot something that goes wrong, and I can test different feelings, and find which one works the best to get me into the right positions. A camera is better than any instructor if you know what to look for.

I have never seen anyone using one...at any range or course I go to.

I have never seen someone besides myself use a camera at the range. It's too bad because a LOT of people I see at the range need to see what their swing looks like as it would be a very hubling experience for them. Secondly, as mentioned many times on the forum, feel isn't real and videotaping your swing will definitely let you know how true that statement is.

what a great business idea!.
would you pay $10 or even $20 to a guy on the range to film you hitting 20 balls from various angles and then email it to you??

hey, it would pay for your next bucket of balls at least.

i certainly would pay $20, but then again, i am loaded $$$.

hmmmm.

always give way to the Greenskeeper!!

Never seen a camera on the range.... although I rarely spend time there myself, so I'm probably not a good yardstick.

I've only seen my instructor with one. I bring mine along for every range session. I don't understand the point of going if I'm not going to record my swing for feedback later.

Why not just buy a tri-pod? They're like $15.

what a great business idea!.

Would be worthless for most people without some basic commentary/analysis included since they wouldn't know what they were looking at or looking for so far as self analysis of a swing video is concerned. And the people would most likely know that and not pay for it.
