Plastic Tee landing after driving....

Read in some golf magazine or heard before that after you tee up a ball, whacked the ball with a Driver or Wood, the wooden or plastic tee should flip and fall backward as this reaction will confirm a long and straight hit.

My $2, a packet, plastic tee always fly right and left, front or into limbo.....sometime so far, i have to walk or take a buggy to get it (that if i can find it ! )

Must i be concern about where my tee landed or just focus hitting the ball long and straight ?

If my tee flew to front, left and right of the teebox, am i missing something important ?

Need help here brothers !!!

It is my experience that the flight of the ball is a better indicator of a long, straight drive than where the tee ends up.
Despite this, it is comforting to know that if you slice one out of bounds, the position of the tee can confirm an excellent shot.
Yesterdya I topped one 30 metres, but it was great to see the tee was behind me. At least I know that it was a great shot, despite leaving me with 400 metres for my second shot on a par 4.
On the other hand, it's distressing to hit one 270 metres and straight, only to find te tee three feet in front of you. Makes you want to give up.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

The backward flying tee never lies.

Why don't you just look at the ball? What does it matter where the tee flies as long as the ball goes where you want it to? Where the tee ends up depends on your tee height, how far into the ground the tee is stuck, the clubhead, your swingpath, angle of attack, firmness of the ground etc. Don't worry about the tee, look at your ball flight and see what it can tell you.

Why don't you just look at the ball? What does it matter where the tee flies as long as the ball goes where you want it to? Where the tee ends up depends on your tee height, how far into the ground the tee is stuck, the clubhead, your swingpath, angle of attack, firmness of the ground etc. Don't worry about the tee, look at your ball flight and see what it can tell you.

+1 I use the ball to determine is the BALL has flow long and straight.

still I have to admit the tee tends to go backwards on my better shots

Sure, on a well-struck ball, you should clip the tee and it will be pressed along the direction of the swing, but how it flies out of the ground is going to depend on a lot more than that. How deeply it's embedded in the ground, whether the ground is equally firm and level around it, etc, is all going to affect how it pops out. Other than gross problems, I don't think you can generalize much. If you don't touch it at all, you're hitting thin. If you dig it out of the ground, you're hitting fat. Beyond that, flying back is probably a good sign, but not flying back doesn't tell you very much.

At the driving range (grass), mine stays right were I put it for quite a few hits. Then it starts to lean forward and get loose in the hole before I move it or it finally snaps in two. I bought some low resistance plastic 3 1/4" ones awhile back but never got to use them because of the accidents. The plastic on them looks like the bendable type so they should hold up. One thing I hate at the range or the course is all the broken tees left on the ground. It's an eyesore. Pick the damn thing up after after using it or at least step on the broken part that is still standing straight up. How hard is it to put a broken tee in your pocket.

I looked at the packaging for the plastic tees and it says, "Envro-Friendly Golf Tees." They save a twig by staying away from wood but making plastic makes with all the chemicals to make it. Then you got plastic ones laying all over the place from lazy people and it will take 100 years for them to rot away.

I tee the ball only 1/2-2/3" above the ground with the driver using 2 1/2" tees so it never comes out of the ground. If I can prevent it, I'd rather not have junk from the ground flying up at me as I've been hit in the eyes a few times by funny lies.

this is just about the silliest observation thread i've read on this forum. my tee goes left and right, forward and back, stays put...who gives a crap. my ball goes where i want it to and thats what matters. i could care less where my tee ends up.

    • I get kidney stones. So 100 oz of water every day. Some nights I drink 32oz between midnight and 6 Am. Which means I dont sleep much.

    • I don’t measure my intake either. I generally have a black coffee, a bottle of soda, some sweet tea at home, and anything in between is water. An ice cold bottle of water is one of my favorite things. It feels like an immediate refresher for my body. I’ll admit that I need to drink a little more though. 
    • For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
