Pretty close. A little short on the 8-PW, but I tend to get a little agressive with those, and am more inclined to 'back off' a long iron more for control. But still, pretty close.

No more accurate for me than just assuming about 10 yards per club (it "calculated" 13 yards IIRC). It over-estimated my driver pretty substantially. Cute.

Seems to be the case for me as well.  Woods are about 15 yards longer, irons about half a club short.

Pretty darned close except for the sand wedge is about 10-15 yards long for me (it would be close for a GW though).

I wondered about this.  It said my driver distance was 283 and my PW was 112 which is just a touch short.  I never really hit my wedges very far.  120 is a pretty long PW for me.  I still play the 48 degree variety, if it's changed..  Regardless, I've never been able to hit my wedges 135-145 like a lot of pros.  I just can't seem to get myself to swing hard with a wedge and I've never felt like it was justifiable to try....  I was a little surprised to see that a 280 drive is what someone who hits a wedge 115 or so would be expected to hit.

hmm, the only number that was pretty spot on was the original 5 Iron distance. Driver end too long, short irons too short in general. I play a lot by feel anyway and can hit a club with a spread of 20-25 yds depending on the shot I want; draw, fade, knockdown, etc...

Part of that seems common enough (hitting the driver shorter and the long irons longer), but it makes me question the accuracy of the information people are providing regarding their true stock 5-iron distance, their body type, skill level, and approach to the game.

What I get from this thread is that, compared to me at least, people tend to use stronger lofts in their irons (or really go after those wedges) and could probably use a driver fitting.

I see it about the same as you.  About 20 yards long on the driver and 15 on the 3W.  Most of the irons were in the ball park.

Why do you say "could probably use a driver fitting"? The driver was a bit long, long irons were spot on, and short irons were short for me. I guess it depends on a person's definition of "average." I'm 6'0, 190lbs, is that average height/weight? I play to a 15; is that sometimes erratic or average? I'm hoping you have good news for me in that a driver fitting will add 25-35 yards to my drives.

    • You all are right, its not that big of an issue, I'll leave it alone, especially after looking at that picture of Tigers beat up putter. But I also noticed the small circle worn on the sweet-spot where he hits it every time, I definitely don't have one of those. Thanks for the replies
    • Committing to one brand of ball this year - Snell MTB Prime X, the 5 doz. pack. Like how they perform for me. At $18/doz., can live with cover scuffing. Iron regripping with GolfPrice MCC+4 Teams std. in red/navy. May be retiring Odyssey Dual Force after 30 yrs. Seems like I can't get it to the hole anymore. Kind of light and has lots of toe hang. My reg. group's hounding finally wore me down.    From Callaway preowned - trying out the Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K in double wide (less toe hang) and triple wide (face balanced). Both also noticeably heavier...we shall see.
    • WOW, it looks like he has been hitting stones with that putter to put all of those nicks into it.  I can't see how a ball would cause many those dings.
    • I'm fighting a knee as well as a foot so I "Feel your pain".  Luckily for me the PT is helping at this time and I am hoping knee surgery is not imminent.  Best of luck to you.
    • I would guess putting grooves in it might make it non-conforming. I am not sure how stringent the USGA is on restoring golf clubs.
