Have you ever had to quit a round early because you lost all your balls?

Today I played five holes and lost seven balls. I believe one of them is in low orbit, a few have fled into the trees to become yetis, and there's this damn river on hole 2... I should start saying baptismal prayers before I hit... save a few golf ball souls...

What about you? Ever run out of ammo?

Never - as a noob I would keep 2 dozen in the bag. Even now I keep a dozen even though the most I have lost in a round in the last couple of years is 3. I have seen plenty of guys have to refill at the turn, but they were usually able to survive on the balls they found while looking for theirs.

No, I usually carry a dozen or so. That's one of my biggest pet peeves. Here's what I said in the pet peeve thread:

"My number 1 pet peeve is people who don't carry enough ball/tees for a round of golf. I have a buddy who constantly runs out of both. The tees don't bother me as much, but the balls do. What makes you think I want to give you a $4 ball when I know you play cheaper stuff and constantly lose them? Last week, he was out of balls on the 8th hole. I gave him a ball to finish the front. At the turn, I made him buy me 2 sleeves of Callaway Tour i(s) and he bought a box balls for himself."

sounds like you need one of these in your bag (maybe a longer rope, though). might cause some problems if you go into the trees, but hey, it's better than losing a ball, right?

I used to do that when I was playing junk balls, i remembering looking in lakes and deep grass for balls just to finish a round haha... but my parents started giving me a dozen pro vs for holiday gifts over the last few years since i moved out and for some reason as soon as i started using pretty brand new pro vs i quit losing them and now i have like 30 unopened balls :|

No never. Quite often I play a round with only one or two balls in the bag. Cant remember the last time I lost one

Last week I played a nice local track and struggled a bit losing 2 balls in first four holes.  So I reach into the bag at this point and find 2 balls left - YIKES!

Luckily the course attracts a lot of lost balls and I was able to "repurpose" some other lost balls I found along the way.

But it was a strange thing to happen since I never ever remeber being so close to having no ammo left, except maybe when I was pure beginner and the bag wasnot big enough for the ball count I would need .....

I know someone who got paired with a guy who bought ONE ball to a reg course and he wasn't so good he only needed one. Guess what happened.

If i lose all the balls i usually bring, i think i would simply quit playing, ive usually got 35-40 balls in my bag at any given time.  I dont lose more than a couple each round but many courses i play at dont have very many ball washers so ill rotate them to keep playing clean ones if i dont get a chance to clean them.   Ill find a few each round, many times ill end up with more balls than i started with, ive got my share of junk ones in my bag as well but i hate playing those unless theres a hazard nearby and theres doubt i can carry it(or rather should lay up and dont want to).

Never ran out of balls, but then again I always carry too many as well.  I keep all my chewed up balls until one day I finally decide it's too heavy.  If I lose a ball, it's usually only one.  I do have friends that always ask to borrow golf balls so I carry junk ones I find, and if I don't have those, the cut up premium ones go to them.

I don't remember ever losing all my balls before finishing.  When I first began playing and scoring in the 120s I always carried a dozen or so balls to start the round.  But these days I usually end up with more balls than I started with.  I save them up and give a sack of balls to charity each year.  Not the PRO V1s however, I play those until they are unplayable.

I always keep a tote bag in the car with extra sleeve or two of balls.  Otherwise the bag has around 3/4 and like some of you ... I do find the occasional gem.  Although one of the things I was taught was if you see folks approaching you ... leave the ball where you found it.  If no one around... that puppy is mine!

I make sure I have at least a dozen in the bag. Rarely lose more than 2-3, but I like to keep a few extra in case I forget to replace the lost soldiers before the next round.

Only time I came close was when I only brought 2 balls with me mistakenly. I bought some at the turn and was fine
