I'm probably going to get chewed out by you guys about this, but I recently ordered from Golfsmith pre-owned. I got two Titleist Vokeys and a Cleveland Launcher fairway. I just read all the reviews on Golfsmith itself, and judging by all the reviews...I just shot myself in the foot.  What do you guys think, it's been a week, haven't heard a thing from them, it was expected to ship on the 24th, it's the 28th. Should I cancel my order or stay with it. I won't be golfing anymore for this season due to Minnesota winter. I don't really go to simulators or anything like that, but I could still take the wait. What do you guys think?    -Thanks

If they'll cancel it, cancel it. You don't need it now and unless it was a real steal, a used club will be cheaper in the February.

If it was suppose to be "shipped" on 24th, it means it is put on the delivery truck on that date.  It does NOT mean you would be receiving it on the 24th.

My guess is it has been put on a delivery truck, and if it is UPS, it will take 3-7 business days depending on the type of shipping method selected and the distance from Minnesota.

I hate Golfsmith!!! Cancel Cancel Cancel!!!!!!

And buying a pre-owned wedge over the internet is pretty sketchy isnt it? I would be super nervous about that decision, especially without seeing it first.

In my Ogio bag.

Titleist 910D2 driver, Adams irons & hybrid, Callaway wedges & a Nike Method putter.

And a yellow ball.

I've used golfsmith in the past and never had a problem but it could take the full 7 days to get to you. My other question is did you get the shipping information?

I have not gotten any shipping information. I've gotten the order conformation, but no "Your order has shipped".  I found out that they use FedEx and those guys aren't the best with shipping times. I'll wait another 1-2 weeks, and if I don't get any response from them, I'll cancel.  And for the wedges, I thought they were a steal. I ordered online because what i'd pay for my order, it'd be that in gas to get to my nearest Golfsmith.

And what would his options be then?  Tour all the local pro shops looking for used wedges?  The internet is where most of the used clubs are located these days.

I've never found Golfsmith to not stand behind their products.  Maybe you have had a bad experience, huh?

In my account, it only has the day that it was ordered and the price, nothing else. I've called, and after the 25 minute holding time, i gave up.

I've ordered A LOT form Golf Smith and have never had a problem.  Just be patient, they tend to be very slow in updating their tracking.  On most of my orders, I actually received the orders before they sent the tracking numbers.

Always changing:

Driver: Cobra S2/Nike VR Pro 10.5º

Irons: Callaway X-20 Tour 4-9i

Hybrid: Titleist 910H 19º & 21º

Wood: TaylorMade R11 3w

Putter: Odyssey White Hot

Wedges: Titleist Vokeys - 48º, 54º, 62º

First round: February 2011

Golfsmith just installed a new ordering system and it's been a disaster for them, especially online orders.  I ordered something online and when I returned it to the store they couldn't process the refund because their system was having issues.  The manager told me the last two months have been nightmares with lost orders, orders that were processed but not shipped, etc.  I'd call them and verify your order is being shipped since it's normal practice for them to notify you that the item(s) shipped and provide a tracking number.  You might also call your credit card company or check it online to see if the charge appears on your account.

One more thing. I've noticed that the 3 clubs I ordered, aren't on the online website anymore. Hopefully that means they've taken them off the shelves and shipped them.

I don't have an issue with Golfsmith. I order stuff and it comes. Not lightning fast like amazon, but I get the goods a few days after the shipment notification. I do that when shipping is free. Otherwise, I just have it sent to a local store and pick it up.

*Update*

Oh boy, got the first order today......it's right handed....... I got the right club, wrong dexterity. Should I return it, or sell it locally?

I'd try to trade it in somewhere for a left handed club.

18 Holes--80 @ Carroll Meadows Golf Course(+9)

2nd update. I received the second package. Golfsmith messed up again...but in my favor. Instead of getting me a 2005 Cleveland launcher 3 wood. They sent me a Cleveland Launcher 2009 wood. I'm still upset that I haven't gotten any more of my e-mail responded to, and I haven't gotten any updates on my headcover and other wedge.

    • Day 12: Same as last couple days, but focus was on recentering aspect of flow. When I recenter earlier I make decent contact most swings but if I recenter late or not at all it’s a roll of the dice.
    • A couple of things.  Some of the clubs in your bag should be dropped immediately.  A 2-iron for example with what obviously seems to be a lower swing speed or possibly not great swing yet is a definite no-no.  To be hitting that 120-140 yards, which I assume includes run, is a sign that you are not getting the ball airborne at the correct angle to maximise distance.  The reason your 3 and 5 hybrid are going the same distance is that your launch angle is better with the 5.  Loft is your friend. Ideally I would suggest going to a golf or sporting store where you can hit golf balls on a simulator without being disturbed to understand your club carry distances and hopefully swing speed.  With that information we can definitely guide you better.
    • Let us be clear, unless you have proof of cheating, you just sound like a case of sour grapes.  In our club we have a guy who won club titles for many years.  Yes, he was a low single digit handicapper, but there have been quite a few others who played at his level.  Yet his mental strength and experience helped him win in many years when he shouldn't have.  Did he sandbag.  DEFINITELY NOT.  Did he just minimize his mistakes and pull out shots as and when needed.  Definitely.
    • Day 111 - Worked on my grip and higher hands in the backswing. Full swings with the PRGR.
    • First off please forgive me if this is not a proper post or not in the proper location, still learning the ropes around here. Second, it's important that I mention I am very new to the game with only about 10 rounds of golf under my belt, most being 9 holes. Only this year have I started playing 18. That being said, I am hooked, love the game and am very eager to learn and improve. To give you an idea of my skill, the last 2 18 rounds I played were 110 and 105. Not great at all, however I am slowly improving as I learn. Had been having bad slicing issues with the driver and hybrids but after playing some more and hitting the range, I've been able to improve on that quite a bit and have been hitting more straight on average. Irons have always come easier to me as far as hitting straight for some reason. Wedges have needed a lot of improvement, but I practice chipping about 20-30 mins about 3-5 times a week and that's helped a lot. Today I went to the range and started to note down some distance data, mind you I am averaging the distances based off my best guess compared to the distance markers on the range. I do not currently own a range finder or tracker. From reading some similar posts I do understand that filling gaps is ideal, but I am having a some issues figuring out those gaps and understanding which clubs to keep and remove as some gaps are minimal between clubs. Below is an image of the chart I put together showing the clubs and average distances I've been hitting and power applied. For some reason I am hitting my hybrids around the same distances and I am not sure why. Wondering if one of them should be removed. I didn't notice a huge loft difference either. The irons I have are hand me downs from my grandfather and after playing with them a bit, I feel like they're just not giving me what could potentially be there. The feel is a bit hard/harsh and underwhelming if that makes sense and I can't seem to get decent distances from them. Wondering if I should be looking to invest in some more updated irons and if those should be muscle backs or cavity backs? My knowledge here is minimal. I have never played with modern fairway woods, only the classic clubs that are actually wood and much smaller than modern clubs. I recently removed the 4 and 5 woods from my bag as I was never using them and I don't hit them very well or very far. Wondering if I should look into some more modern fairway wood options? I appreciate any feedback or advice anyone is willing to give, please forgive my lack of knowledge. I am eager to learn! Thank you.
