Suggest an inexpensive, decent putter for a high handicap golfer

For me I went to a couple different places and hit a bunch till I found a style that I liked. Turned out to be a more center shafted style. I didn't worry about brands or price. Once found what I liked I then looked at brands and prices. I wound up with a fisher talon 2. You can switch the faces around for different feels.

I play a Ping iWi series putter (the D66 shape). Pretty sure you can still find em new for $60 or less. Mine was near $100 when I got it.

Just got a used cleveland classic brz for 50$ mint condition.
One of the prettiest and best feeling putters out there.

Odyssey....I've tried other brands but always seem to come back to her in some shape or form. 
 

Off-course golf shops often have slightly-used mainline putters for well under $100.

 

Note that putters are a very personal thing. In the heads do you like mallets, blades, or heel-toe weighted? Try some different varieties and find one that feels good to you. Every couple of years - not as often as in past - you hear about some pro who won a tournament with a no-name putter he got for $10 from a used-club barrel. Again, find one you like.

 

If you get the putter and find you're always missing to the left or right, you might try a putter fitting to get it tweaked for you.

A SeeMore putter is great because its sight aid helps you to gain a more neutral setup. I'd suggest a used SeeMore on ebay or a golf site like golfwrx. Or a new one from SeeMore.

i have a clevelend classic 4. you can get one for around 50 bucks, has good feel and some people say if performs almost as good as a scotty.

+1 on this putter. I have one and love it. Not my main putter but its good for the price. I bought mine new this year for $70 at GolfGalaxy. My main putter is an Odyssey Metal X-8. But that was more than what you want to spend. Like someone else said, its all about what feels good to you. $500 Scotty Cameron's don't score any better than 29.99 MaxFli's.

$$$ should never be an issue when buying a putter, it is the club that will be in your bag the longest.

+1.  Not to open a can of worms, but it isn't necessary to drop $300+ to buy a good putter.  What's a good putter?  A good putter is one that feels good to you, that you can use effectively, and that will put the ball in the hole.  Go to a golf shop, putt around, and find one within your price range that feels good.  Check out used putters as well.  My first putter was an el-cheapo Acuity putter from Dick's, and you know what, it did one hell of a job putting the ball in the hole.

+1 on the yes putters, I have the callie and love it, picked it up last year at rock bootm for less than $40. but first decide if you want a blade or mallet, I tried the mallet but like as blade putter better, you can always go to a golf store and putt a few different puttersto see what you like. good luck with the quest.

I love and can only use putters with a big face on it. The box looking ones. Best control

And being cheap can also cost you more.

 

The putter is the one club that could stay in your bag forever - if you go with one due to price only, you may purchase 2 or 3 other ones offsetting your *savings* - a more expensive one will hold its value over time

 

I'm not saying a $300 putter is for everyone - but if you are only thinking with your pocket - you may have taken up the wrong hobby

I'll give another endorsement for Yes! putters. Can be had pretty cheap and I love mine. The C-Groove thing-a-mejiggers really work.

The cost of the putter has nothing to do with how it works for you. I've used cheap putters and putted very well with them, and at the same time, used $300 Camerons and putted like garbage. The higher the price tag does not mean the better the putter is for you.

 

That being said, I'd definitely give the Yes! and Cleveland Classics a look. Both are nice putters at a great price. I'm also a big fan of the new Never Compromise Sub 30 series, and they're fairly reasonable too.
