For me - downhill,  ball above feet.

Uphill and ball below feet, ugh. Not my favorite shot.

Well obviously it depends on the situation, but I would take uphill 8 times out of 10.

As for above or below - above. I can always choke up on a club, but can't make it longer.

2013 Goal:

Single digit handicap

Depends on where It needs to go next. Sometimes it can be beneficial other times not so much. But I don't mind as long as I'm putting a full swing on it. The feel shots around the green with bad lies are what torture me. Almost always leave it short because I hold back.

The downhill lie is the toughest lie in golf. Great practice is to hit 5 irons off a downhill lie. Really sharpens the ball striking.

Downhill above the feet. Had this lie last week, it was enough downhill to really de-loft the club, smoked a 6i nearly 200 yds!

I would rather the ball be above my feet than below.

As a side bar, It looks like some of the above posters have used different terms for a ball that is below the feet. Since we are talking about a ball lie, is it common to reference a ball lie with respect to your feet, or feet with reference to the ball?

Ball above feet. So much easier than below, you just choke up.

Hitting a ball below your feet when practicing will really, really improve your ball striking.

for me out of the options I would choose uphill over downhill and I would choose to have the ball above my feet as opposed to having it below my feet. I find it easier to add a club to account for the added loft of the uphill lie instead of taking a club away due to decreased loft of the downhill lie. Also I would much rather have to hold the toe strong on a lie with the ball above my feet (i can only assume you mean a sidehill lie) instead of holding on to the hossel with the ball below my feet.
