Ryan Day at half, ‘ we had that catch in the end zone taken away.’ What an ass. Disgraceful. Replay CLEARLY showed receiver didn’t have control and the ball hit the ground. Shows his poor integrity.

I didn't see it, but:

  • A coach is always going to frame things in the way that favors his team. That isn't "integrity."
  • If they called it a TD, then review overturned it… it was "taken away."

Nope. That’s when the call is questionable. The coach will of course rule in his favor. This was an obvious incomplete pass and to complain that it was unfair is poor sportsmanship. Period.
I get it Erik. You’re gonna go against me in this thread no matter what. But don’t just take shots like that that hold no water. The video was clear. To continue to complain is shitty.

I think it's obvious you just hate Ohio State.

Coaches always frame things in the way that favors his team. Even on obvious situations.

P.S. I had to look up who Ryan Day was, and I couldn't care less who wins any of these games.

Right...but you bother to come in and get a dig on me on a guy you don’t know, about a play you didn’t see, from a game you don’t care about. Got it.

Even in football if a replay shows a clear and undebatable outcome, coaches don’t continue to bitch they were screwed. Questionable yes, obvious no. He looked like an ass. It wasn’t a TD taken away. They scored with a questionable catch so it was reviewed by the refs and clearly showed on the giant big screen in front of millions where even both announcers and the booth official agreed it was an incomplete pass. Day was an ass. Period.

"They scored" and then "it was reviewed" and the call was changed. Yes? Those are the facts?

Then the TD was "taken away." Simple fact, man.

Why are you so anti-OSU?

Quote

After Dobbins' 64-yard scamper nearly ended in another long touchdown run, the Buckeyes' running back was nearly able to finish the drive with a touchdown on a diving catch on 3rd & Goal, but after the play was initially ruled a touchdown, it was overturned after video review. Ohio State had to settle for another field goal in the red zone.

This meets the definition of "taken away." The refs signaled TD, then took it away.

P.S. If anything, I'm anti-OSU so I can tease those around me about it.

If you want to play semantics yes. Most reasonable people don’t consider something stolen, or given undeservingly as something ‘taken away’ as in ‘cheated.’

If by semantics you mean “literally the definition…” then yes. 😛

Congrats to Clemson, they made one or two more plays than OSU did. If you have a shot at winning at the end of the 4th quarter then I have no complaints. It was Lawrence not throwing any interceptions to OSU throwing two interceptions. One was a great play by Clemson's LB, and the other was OSU WR running the wrong route at the end of the game.

This was a great measuring stick for a Ryan Day program, go to toe-to-toe with this Clemson team. With the third ranked recruiting class in the nation, with 3 of the top 12 WR. Giving Fields more weapons to throw to.

I am looking forward to the NC game. I am rooting for LSU, because I want Borrow (from Athens, OHIO!) to win it over Clemson. I got a bad feeling that LSU is going to run up against a team that can cover those WR better than any team they have faced this year.

On a side not, can the committee not put in OU until they learn to play defense! I understand that OU had some major key players out of the game due to suspensions. Man, give another team a try next time.

It was nice to see a close game. Like @saevel25 said Clemson pretty much won due to the turnovers 0-2 stat. Otherwise OSU lead in just about every other stat. That being said, I’m afraid the same fate OU suffered will come to Clemson. Everybody knows OU had an awful defense. But there just wasn’t anybody else. Certainly no B1G team, PAC-12 would’ve left the stadium at 72-0. Baylor from the Big 12? No way.  LSU is in a league of its own this year.

Clemson will be humiliated in the NC. I don’t think the Clemson/OSU game resulted in the better team winning necessarily as ‘mistakes’ just aren’t a good measure to judge any team by. Statistically and eye test-wise  for me OSU has the edge. Despite it being a close game, I think OSU would give a much better challenge to LSU although mild-moderate. LSU takes the NC with ease.

My only warning for LSU is watch out to what happened to Oregon after drumming FSU. They looked like world beaters, had a great QB, and got beat soundly in the NC game.

Clemson has the 1st or 2nd best passing defense. I think Clemson finds more success on offense against LSU’s defense.

Yes, but they achieved that stat from playing butterballs. How many top 25 teams did Clemson play to accumulate that stat? Boise St. looked real sharp hanging out there in the MWC. The West Coast junkies thought they were such a golden team. Then they played a mediocre team from a superior conference ( Washington ) and got their asses handed to ‘em 38-7.

I do agree Clemson has some bite despite OSU being their only worthy win to date. But let’s face it, it wasn’t a solid performance at all. It’s pretty impressive that the first four red zone appearances from OSU resulted in 3 FG’s. But I’m not sure that was stellar defense from Clemson any more than poor execution/play call from OSU.

The video was clear.

I saw that he had possession and then decided to reach for the goal line by extending his arms. Impact with the ground was after the TD. There was no "indisputable" video evidence IMO.

    • You’ve yet to propose anything else. And yet it was, and the rules tell you how to deal with it. Your question has been answered. Oh, so your league is full of cheaters and I disagree with your assessment of common sense. 😀 And yet they didn’t really change this one. Looks like this is about wrapped up?
    • When you are penalized for hitting into the sand trap the penalty is having to hit it out of the sand, not out of three inches of water. A sand trap is not the same as a water hazard. A sand trap is not supposed to be under water. It is a unique condition caused  by weather and poor drainage. Most local leagues like ours allow the free drop in this type of situation, as long as there is no area in the bunker to legally drop. This is what I’m talking about, sometimes the official rules of golf don’t align with common sense. That’s why they are finally starting to change them. For example, when wind blows your ball off the green. That was a stupid rule. People being able to call the tv network to say they saw a players ball move. That was a stupid rule. I’m just saying, these are rules made up a long time ago, and it’s time to modernize them.
    • Consider it another way: normally, it's a two-stroke penalty to move your ball out of a bunker (unplayable). The ACC reduces it to just one.
    • No, hitting into a hazard that is supposed to be avoided and is designed to be penalizing is not the same as hitting it into the middle of the fairway.   You are penalized because you hit it into a hazard. Based on your logic let's say you hit it into a red staked penalty area and you could normally play it but it's in temporary casual water from rain. Would you expect a free drop from there too??
    • They could have declared it GUR, sure. It is. It's temporary water, and as I said before, an abnormal course condition (ACC). That's what rule 16 is about — ACCs. No, a bunker ≠ the middle of the fairway. You are penalized because you hit it into a bunker. As for the rest… let's stick to the topic. Yep.
