How Many Wedges Do You Carry?

I carry 3 right now but will have four next year. I have a PW and then this year our local pro will be building me a 52, 56, and a 60 wedge with the same specs as the CG15's.

They are.  These may have different lofts, but some manufacturers have chosen to call the gap wedge an "A" wedge, whatever that means.  It's still a gap wedge functionally.  Carrying both is a  bit odd.  For me that would just be adding unnecessary complications to my greenside shot selection process.  By actual count of what's in his sig, if he's carrying that "A" wedge he has 15 clubs.

I'm new to the game so apart from the PW included in my beginner's golf set (I think its a 48 ^o loft), I just recently added a 56 ^o Callaway Forged + Vintage Sand Wedge with a flex iron shaft. I'm planning to add a lob wedge soon; just saving up for it.

Once I get that club, I should have filled my first tournament club limit. I've read in the forum, that since these are scoring clubs, you can take away the fairway woods and hybrids but keep the wedges because they bring you closer to the cup. I'm going to take that to heart and start adding more of them.

I'm seriously considering having either my 54 bent to 55* or my 58* bent to 57* and go with one. I think I'm more inclined to go 55*. But I think I'll go have a trackman session first and figure out my gaps and go from there.

I have a 48 degree PW and a 56 degree SW, which club should I get, a Lob Wedge or a Gap Wedge? If I haven't mentioned it yet, I'm a newbie.

Probably best to make a separate thread for this so we don't hijack the existing one. But to answer your first question, yes a putter counts. As for the second question, it depend on what kind of a gap you have between PW and SW, and how proficient you are around the greens with what you have and what kinds of courses you play.

I carry 5 wedges also' 46, 51, 56, 60, 64. There are some courses were either the 60 or 64 come out in favor of a second hybrid, but not that often

Not counting my pw which is 47* I carry 2, a 54-12 and a 60-04. I use to have a 52, 56, and a 60, I didn't use the 56 that much so I went to the 2 I have now.

I carry 4 including my PW.

• PW (45deg, part of my iron set)
• GW (CG15 52 bent to 50, 8deg bounce)
• SW (CG15 56.14deg)
• SW (CG15 62.12deg)

I carry the second high lofted sand wedge because some of the courses I play have very high sided bunkers and it makes my life easier.  It also doubles as my lob wedge so it's not wasting a spot in my bag.

No worries. You're looking at a gap of about 30 yards between your two wedges, but it comes down to how well you can hit the PW from, say, 75 yards. If you can hit the shot pretty well, then a GW might not be necessary. Then again, if you're only hitting your SW 50-60 yards, a lob wedge likely won't be the best option. It can be a really tricky club to hit, especially for beginners. If I were you, I would probably get a GW over a LW.

Sorry I can't give more specific advice. Like most things, it all just depends on what your specific needs are.

For the past year (since I took golf up again) I've been carrying four,

PW - 45*

GW - 50*

SW - 54*

LW - 58-60* (experimenting with various clubs)

I'm currently leaning very heavily toward adding another wedge to tighten the low end gaps (44, 48, 52, 56, 60) and leaving either my 7 or 4 wood out depending on the course, 4 mostly probably.  I currently seem to appreciate shorter putts on most holes more than shorter approach shots on a few par 5s.
